With the seizure of 28 illegal fire-arms and 57 cartridges, registration of 4,712 liquor cases, and a sharp rise to 862 NDPS cases , the Nagpur Rural Police delivered one of their toughest crackdowns on crime in 2025. Six persons including two children sustained grievous burn injuries when a gas cylinder exploded in a house at Gausiya Colony in Bada Tajbagh area of Sakkardara Police Station on Friday evening. The injured persons are identified as Shakil Sheikh (35) his wife Sabina (25), their children Sajid (3), Albiya (5) and Shakil’s friends Ashfak Sheikh (40) and Asif Sheikh (32).
According to police, Shakil was a scrap dealer and living in rented accommodation of Mujaffar Ali. A wielding gas cylinder was stored by the Shakil in the home. When Sabina was preparing food on LPG stove, the wielding gas cylinder exploded. The six persons sustained burn injuries after the explosion. The injured persons were transported to hospital. A fire tender of Fire and Emergency services of NMC was pressed into service to control the fire. Huge nnumbersof onlookers were gathered at the spot after the incident.
