A Star bus ferrying almost 30 passengers catches fire near Buttibori owing to short circuit in the wiring system on Sunday. However, all the passengers including driver and conductor, were safely evacuated from the bust before it was enveloped into flames.
An officer of Buttibori Police Station informed that the bus (MH-31/CA-576) was going to Buttibori and around 30 passengers were onboard. Conductor Ashish Bahande noticed smoke in the bus and informed driver Jabir Sheikh at 12.40 pm. The driver immediately stopped the bus near Bothali villager and asked passengers get down immediately. The bus caught fire a few minutes later.
Staff of Buttibori Police Station was rushed to the spot and three fire-tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames. The Firemen controlled the fire within an hour. Traffic movement on the Nagpur-Hyderabad highway was badly affected after the incident. An official of Fire Department said that the engine’s heat combined with summer heat could have caused the short circuit.
