Sitting amid the blackened remains of his home, 32-year-old Nikesh Gawali carefully broke open a half-melted plastic box with a screwdriver. His hands shook slightly, not out of fear, but out of hope. “I’m trying to find my daughter Aarti’s gold earrings,” he said quietly, still focused on the box. “She’s just five. I got them made recently after months of labour work.” The plastic box, warped and blackened by heat, was one of the few things left from his two-room house on the outskirts of Dhamangaon village . All around him lay ash, broken tin sheets and charred wooden beams. The walls had cracked under the heat and the front room’s tin roof had caved in completely. A man's errant behaviour cost him his life after three persons murdered him. The incident occurred on Sunday in Pachpaoli area during the wee hours. Prima facie police said, the deceased seems to be mentally challenged and used to hurl abuses on anyone passing through the area. Identity of the deceased was not established as yet.
The accused were identified as Tularam alias Lalla Madan Dharmik (21), a resident of Thakkargram, Pachpaoli; Chandrashekhar alias Chandu Ruprao Bhisikar (25), a resident of Tandapeth, Pachpaoli and a juvenile. The identity of accused persons was ascertained on basis of CCTV footage.
The dead body was noticed by the passersby on Sunday morning. After noticing stab injuries the cops registered a case of murder and initiated scanning of CCTVs footage from nearby shops in the area. The cops narrowed on three persons seen in the CCTV footage and launched searches nearby localities.
The accused in their statement stated that the deceased was known for abusing passengers. People were fed-up of use of filthy language and hence the man was eliminated.
Police Inspector Narendra Hiware, API Sanjay Kedare, PSI PR Ingle, A R Gangakachur, ASI Sudesh Chauhan, HC Sanjay Wankhede, Vinayak Ingle, Raj Choudhari, Ajay Kute, Abhay Sakhre, Sariputra Fulzele, Aviraj Bhagwat effected the arrest.
