Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. Guardian Minister calls for Buddhist Tourism Circuit

Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Guardian Minister of Nagpur district, called for connecting Deekshabhoomi, Dragon Palace Temple, Chicholi into a Buddhist Tourism Circuit. Addressing the officials in a meeting held on Friday at Ravi Bhavan here, he asked the officials concerned to plan accordingly. 

During the meeting, officials concerned made a presentation on plan for development of Deekshabhoomi into a Class ‘A’ tourist destination. The entire plan entrusted to Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT), is of Rs 325 crore. Deekshabhoomi is on a sprawling 22.8 acres of area. Bawankule asked the officials to make certain suggestions and also to accord priority to development and beautification of whatever space available in the area. 

Sadanand Fulzele, Secreary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak Samiti; Adv Sulekha Kumbhare, former Minister of State; Prakash Gajbhiye, MLC; Sudhakar Deshmukh and Sameer Meghe, MLAs; Deepak Mhaisekar, Chairman of NIT; Vilas Gajghate, Vijay Chikate and others were present prominently in the meeting. They also participated in the discussion. 

A proposal regarding Class ‘A’ tourist destination status to Dragon Palace Temple was given to Regional Manager of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC). The proposal for development and beautification of the temple is of Rs 214.50 crore. This proposal includes Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Convention Centre, accomodation hall, Vipassana hall, Buddhist Theme Park, museum and library, parking space, protection wall, electrification etc. A presentation was made in this regard. 

A proposal for renovation and beautification of Chicholi, where rare artefacts of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar are preserved in a building on land owned by late Wamanrao Godbole, was discussed on the occasion. The proposal includes renovation of museum building, memorial, mass training centre, Vipassana Centre, Anapan Satri Kendra, cafetaria, stalls, dining hall, teachers’ cottages, staff quarters, students’ residences, hostel, public toilets etc. Guardian Minister said that a fund of Rs 40 crore will be provided for the same, and if required, additional funds will be provided. Prakash Gajbhiye suggested some changes.

Longest cable-stayed bridge to boost tourism at Ambhora

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
