In what could be considered as one of the biggest hauls till date, Ganeshpeth Police on Tuesday evening seized Rupees 1.70 crore cash from suspected hawala couriers.
A team of Ganeshpeth police intercepted an autorickshaw near Agyaram Devi square and found to their astonishment a huge and unaccounted cash worth Rs 1.70 crore carried by two people who could not explain and origin or justification for possessing such a massive amount.
There is a suspicion that the money was to be routed through Hawala channel and hence brought to city for depositing it with some trader here. Later, the money was handed-over to Income Tax department for probe.
Hawala money seized by Ganeshpeth police.
According to information, Yasin Khan Mushtak Khan (50), and Ashish Kailash Tikkas (18), both residents of Sivani, Madhya Pradesh, received the courier of the cash from a trader and Amardeep talkies square, Nagpur was their destination.
The men boarded in bus of Madhya Pradesh Road Transport at Sivani bus terminus on Tuesday afternoon. The cash was wrapped in three boxes and kept in luggage compartment.
After arriving at Madhya Pradesh Bus terminus near Ganesh Mandir, Tekdi and men deboarded from the bus and hired an Autorickshaw. The boxes were kept in the Autorickshaw. While going towards Itwari via Agyaram Devi square, a team of Detection Branch (DB) stopped Autorickshaw on sheer suspicion. After some tough talking by cops, the duo spilled the beans and confessed that they were delivering the cash at Itwari area. However, they failed to show bills of the money. After the boxes were opened, they found stacks of notes and both of them were immediately nabbed and boxes were taken into custody.
The Ganeshpeth police team took them to police station, performed Panchanama and sealed the cash. The information was immediately passed on to Income Tax department and senior officers.

The duo told the police that they are working as delivery boy from Sivani to Itwari area of Nagpur. They had delivered consignment many a times, PI Khatale said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP Zone III) Abhinash Kumar interrogated the courier boy and checked the mobile calls of the accused in search of further clues.

IGP Prasanna : The man who stopped Obama’s convoy

IGP Mallikarjuna Prasanna By Dheeraj Fartode  Published on Feb/17/2019 NOT many are aware of an episode during the then US President Barack Obama’s visit to India in 2010. The world’s most powerful man was made to wait for 11 minutes in his car while an Indian cop took on American officials for their unwarranted interference in the US President’s security. KM Mallikarjuna Prasanna, Special Inspector General of Police of Nagpur Range, still continues to work with the same pride, wearing his patriotism on the sleeve. “Had they (Americans) deployed their personnel for area security, then the message would have been Indians are unable to protect VIPs in their nation,” recounted Prasanna on the episode that is one of the highlights of his distinguished career of a skillful investigator. The story of the IPS officer of 2000 batch is worth a film. In fact, a movie (Nagarjun-starrer ‘Officer’) has already been made by Ram Gopal Verma last year. His real life script also ha

It is situated at the confluence of five rivers -- Wainganga, Kanhan, Aam, Kolari and Murza. Just around a decade ago the river bank housing Ambhora used to see a flux of tourists from all over the State. However, the banks were submerged in water after the construction of Gosikhurd dam which led to rise in water levels. Since then, tourist flow at Ambhora has also declined.
