Sitting amid the blackened remains of his home, 32-year-old Nikesh Gawali carefully broke open a half-melted plastic box with a screwdriver. His hands shook slightly, not out of fear, but out of hope. “I’m trying to find my daughter Aarti’s gold earrings,” he said quietly, still focused on the box. “She’s just five. I got them made recently after months of labour work.” The plastic box, warped and blackened by heat, was one of the few things left from his two-room house on the outskirts of Dhamangaon village . All around him lay ash, broken tin sheets and charred wooden beams. The walls had cracked under the heat and the front room’s tin roof had caved in completely. - The cash was stashed in three boxes

In what could be considered as one of the biggest hauls till date, Ganeshpeth Police on Tuesday evening seized Rupees 1.70 crore cash from suspected hawala couriers.
A team of Ganeshpeth police intercepted an autorickshaw near Agyaram Devi square and found to their astonishment a huge and unaccounted cash worth Rs 1.70 crore carried by two people who could not explain and origin or justification for possessing such a massive amount.
There is a suspicion that the money was to be routed through Hawala channel and hence brought to city for depositing it with some trader here. Later, the money was handed-over to Income Tax department for probe.

According to information, Yasin Khan Mushtak Khan (50), and Ashish Kailash Tikkas (18), both residents of Sivani, Madhya Pradesh, received the courier of the cash from a trader and Amardeep talkies square, Nagpur was their destination.
The men boarded in bus of Madhya Pradesh Road Transport at Sivani bus terminus on Tuesday afternoon. The cash was wrapped in three boxes and kept in luggage compartment.
After arriving at Madhya Pradesh Bus terminus near Ganesh Mandir, Tekdi and men deboarded from the bus and hired an Autorickshaw. The boxes were kept in the Autorickshaw. While going towards Itwari via Agyaram Devi square, a team of Detection Branch (DB) stopped Autorickshaw on sheer suspicion. When cops questioned the men about the boxes, they were rattled and could not give any cogent response. After some tough talking by cops, the duo spilled the beans and confessed that they were delivering the cash at Itwari area. However, they failed to show bills of the money. After the boxes were opened, they found stacks of notes and both of them were immediately nabbed and boxes were taken into custody.
The Ganeshpeth police team took them to police station, performed Panchanama and sealed the cash. The information was immediately passed on to Income Tax department and senior officers.
Police Inspector Sanjay Khatale told The Hitavada that the men were to call the Sivani based trader after reaching Amardeep Talkies square for exact address. The duo told the police that they are working as delivery boy from Sivani to Itwari area of Nagpur. They had delivered consignment many a times, PI Khatale said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP Zone III) Abhinash Kumar interrogated the courier boy and checked the mobile calls of the accused in search of further clues.
PI Sanjay Khatale, Second PI Chandanshive, API A P Taksande and staff including Rahemat Sheikh, Sanjay Raysane, Umakant Nagdive, Hemant Lonare, Sumit Gujar, Sharad Chambhare, Chandu Thakre, Suryakant Ingle made the arrest.
