Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. People's co-operation is utmost need of hour in the age of heightened 'fear' as ever increasing threats cannot be tackled by police alone. For a better security environment an alert society is must stated Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis after dedicating smartphone application 'Koshish' made by Nagpur Rural Police on Sunday.

Addressing the gathering at office of Superintendent of Police, Nagpur Rural, Fadnavis again reminded Government officials that delivery of services on time is essential to keep common man’s faith intact in the system. “If you will not deliver in time, then you alone will be responsible for people's’ outrage,” Chief Minister further said while putting officials on notice. There is shortage of manpower in Government departments while people's expectations is increasing and moreover they want fast action and hence Government would adopt e-platforms to overcome this hurdle.
The Koshish application is very useful in time of accidents and also for working women. The Government is working to start single window system’ at each police station to give better services like various permissions through e-platform. Praising Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr Aarti Singh, Chief Minister announced that Government would try to standardise the Koshish application and replicate it across the State in near future. 
State Energy Minister and District Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Mayor Pravin Datke, MLAs Krishna Khopde, Sudhakar Kohale, Sameer Meghe, MLC Prof Anil Sole, Commissioner of Police K K Pathak, Joint Commissioner of Police Anup Kumar Singh, Special Inspector General of Police (Nagpur Range) Ravindra Kadam, and others were present on the dais. Chief Minister also felicitated Mahesh Kandalkar, Parth Kathore and others for making Koshish application.

Giving details of Koshish’ App, SP Dr Aarti Singh said that the application with size of 5 MB is available on Google Play Store and is based on Android platform. After downloading the application, a simple registration window will appear, user have to enter his mobile phone number, address, photo through mobile camera and one or three contacts of close relatives. The data will synchronised to data server of Control Room of Nagpur Rural Police. 
In case an accident occurs, the user have to press emergency button and within a minute a SMS with exact GPS location will be sent to the relative, nearest police station, control room, Hospital and 108 Ambulance services. The App will itself make a call to relative (based on numbers given at time of registration) of the user. Using GPS system, the control room's server will show exact location of the user who has met with an accident and entire system will be able to respond quickly in such emergencies, especially if help is made available during the
Golden Hour (a hour after the accident), 90 % of lives would be saved. Saving lives of injured persons in accident is the main moto of the application,” she said.
The app have also facilities have option of ‘Nirbhaya’, if the woman user presses the button, police machinery will get alerted about the emergency. It would also help reduce atrocities against the women. Other options of the App are traffic rules information, info about police websites, traffic jam information, safety guidelines, fines after traffic violation, e-challan, crime diary and others.

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
