The state police have started using Crime-OS, a powerful Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool developed under the MARVEL project (Maharashtra Research and Vigilance for Enhanced Law Enforcement). This tool, built in partnership with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur, works like the co-pilot feature in Microsoft Office - but to solve crimes. As many as 29 nomination forms were rejected at end of the scrutiny conducted by the Returning Officers in the district for the assembly elections. Nomination of Shiv Sena candidate from North Nagpur seat was rejected by the Election Officer for lack of proper documentation.
In City, five nominations were rejected from North Nagpur seat including Sena candidate Jitendra alias Lala Manohar Sasane. Official sources informed that the nomination of the Sena candidate was rejected due to insufficient documents. Other candidates whose nominations forms were rejected are Jyoti Janbandhi, Abhishek Shambharkar, Mohanlal Chavan and Umesh Mendhe.
In East Nagpur assembly seat four nomination were rejected. Nominations of independent candidates Rajesh Deshabhratar, Archana Kalsait (Bagde), Purushottam Hatwar, Purushottam Hajare were rejected. Three nominations from South Nagpur seat were rejected due to lack of proper documentation and that included one of Republican Party of India’s candidate Kshitij Trinarayan Rajpal and independent candidate Ishwar Gadhawe and Sharda Lanjewar.
Two nominations were rejected from Central Nagpur and West Nagpur. According to information, nominations of Sharad Wanjari of BSP and independent candidate Deepraj Pardikar from Central Nagpur were rejected. Nominations of West Nagpur independent candidates Dr Mohd Jamal and Bhaurao Bhagat were rejected. In district, six nominations from Katol constituency, four from Hingna, one from Umred, one from Kamptee stood rejected.
