Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. Sitabuldi police solved 18 cases of HBTs, seized 40 tola gold and Rs. 2.75 lakh cash

In a major breakthrough, Sitabuldi police have solved 18 cases of house burglaries thefts (HBTs) in single shot after arrest of 26-year-old youth. The interrogation of the arrested youth revealed that he hails from Yavatmal. The cops have seized 40 tola of gold worth Rs 12 lakh and Rs 2.5 lakh cash from his possession. 
Accused Amol Ashok Mirzapure (26), a resident of Watkheda village of Babhulgaon taluka of Yavatmal district is HSC pass and is electrician by professional. Cops also seized his tool-kit with which he used to broke doors of house. The tool kits contains three screw driver, torch and a drilling screw. 
Police said that Amol hit the crime street about two years back. He would first observe the apartments and then targets the selected flats. He travelled to Nagpur by his own car and parked it at parking slot of Nagpur railway station. Thereafter he would set out for his job carrying along a handbag containing his tool kit.  On reaching the targeted flat, he would first make hole at corners of lock and then open it with a push. After stealing valuables, the accused would drove back to Yavatmal. 
He had disposed off valuables worth Rs 10 lakh till now, said the sources. Amol hails from a economically poor family background. His father is also an electrician while mother is bed ridden. During interrogation the youth told that he took to crime as money was falling short for treatment of his ailing mother. There is plot of his father at Yavatmal and construction is in full swing. Sources claimed that the accused had spend around Rs 9 lakh for construction of the house.

The police had recovered CCTV footage of Amol. However it was very difficult exercise for Sitabuldi police station to identify the accused. Finally police team of Sitabuldi police station got tip-off that the accused is coming to Children traffic park to meet a person. And he walked into the police dragnet.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone I) Abhinash Kumar told media persons that the accused have confessed for the crime and around 18 HBTs have been detected including 10 solely under the jurisdiction of Sitabuldi police station. Rest of the cases are registered under the jurisdictions of Dhantoli, Rana Pratap Nagar police stations. The police have seized the valuables from his residence at Yavatmal, his car and jewels. 
The arrest was made by Police Inspector of Sitabuldi police station Ravindra Chavan, Assistant Police Inspector (API) Ram Bandekar and staff comprising Ramesh Bhorkar, Pradip Gedam, Narendra Denge, Rakesh Yadav, Rajendra Nagpure, Dharmaraj Dabale, Dipak More, Gajanan Mishikar and Mohd Ashfaq. 

Thief with ethics

Each of the thief has come specialty which is noticed in aftermath of theft. The police found that in each of the HBTs, the mangalsutra, the most pious of ornament posses by married women, would not be stolen. This was quite an important clue and it helped police track down Amol.
Amol told cops that he would never steal the mangalsutra as it was against his norms. It also reveals the soft nature of the accused.

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP). The list includes names of officers belonging to Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy.SP) batches between 1988 and 1995, who were promoted to the IPS cadre. The officers are S V Jadhav, B G
