By Dheeraj Fartode Imagine a police officer uploads an FIR and within seconds, an AI assistant begins planning the investigation. It write official letters, scan bank data and spot suspicious transactions. It sounds like science fiction - but it’s now reality in Maharashtra. - The youth realised their grave mistake of ‘ignoring’ plain clothes police officer’s intervention

Men in khaki can control a mob. And what happens when the same policemen in plain clothes appears before the crowd? The reaction of crowd is entirely different. An incident that occurred well past Saturday midnight at Empress mall, proves the above point. A Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Nagpur city police who tried to intervene in a brawl was manhandled by the mob. In the melee, the DCP’s spectacle was also damaged. The DCP had gone to watch late night show of ‘Ragini MMS 2 movie’.
The DCP was clad casually in T-shirt and jeans. After the movie was over, an altercation occurred between two groups over eve teasing. According the police, the brawl started after a youth molested a girl. Attention of the audience got diverted towards the brawl and the mob immediately gathered around the fighting youth. The enthusiastic DCP intervened in the matter identifying himself as an police officer. Sources informed that both groups had 7-8 members each. However no one paid attention to DCP’s pleading and someone in the crowd pushed him aside. Two persons allegedly manhandled the DCP and in process his spectacles also got damaged after it fell down on the floor.
Furious over the unruly mob’s reaction, the DCP decided to teach a lesson to these anti-social elements. He called for police force back-up and within minutes police force rushed to the spot. The police force gheraoed the Empress Mall and rounded up the warring youth from both groups. The youth were hauled-up to Ganeshpeth police station where the DCP who had played good samaritan was waiting to guide the police team. Now the khaki power had the soothing effect and youth realised their grave mistake of ‘ignoring’ plain clothes police officer’s intervention. Ganeshpeth police have registered the case under section 143, 323 and 354 (a) (1) and (4) of Indian Penal Code. Ganeshpeth police have arrested 13 persons in the case.
