Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Touted as a passenger friendly initiative, Railways have also enabled advance booking of the rooms at its 45 major stations, including Nagpur. The project was undertaken on pilot basis on Central Railway and Northern Railway during last year and after getting good response the same facility is now rolled out on pan-national basis. The bodies were found in a well at Murmadi village of Bhandara district under mysterious circumstances on February 16 this year. The report is likely to put a full-stop on police investigation into the case. Moreover, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has also refused to take up the case saying investigation done by Bhandara Police were thorough and sufficient. Police kit purchase: direct cash transfer now

Maharashtra Police  By Dheeraj Fartode  After direct cash transfer scheme for LPG users implemented by Union government to reduce corruption and give direct benefits to end user, the Maharashtra police headquarters wants to introduce direct transfer in the force for police kit equipment purchasing. The move in this regard has been played by State Director General of Police (DGP) Sanjeev Dayal. About 1.7 lakh policemen (upto head constable rank) of state will be beneficiary  to get the direct cash transfer in their bank account for purchase of police kit. Right now, the police personnel get kit from their respective central depots. Once this scheme gets nod, the police personnel can purchase their own equipments from authorised stores. “A proposal has been sent to the home ministry for approval and we are pursuing to get approval,” said DGP Sanjeev Dayal. NIMZ Kuhi Project: MIDC wants special land acquisition officer now

NIMZ at Kuhi By Dheeraj Fartode  After getting approval from High Power Committee (HPC) for ambitious National Investement and Infrastructure Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) at Kuhi, District administration and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) have moved a proposal to appoint a Deputy Collector rank officer and supporting staff to acquire land required for the important project. Regional Officer of MIDC Vijay Bhakre told ‘The Hitavada’ that the HPC have given its nod in Mach 2013 for the project. “We have sent a proposal last month to state government for appointment of Deputy Collector, Tehsildar and other staff specially for land acquisition for NIMZ.” As the land acquisition is critical process and it can delay the project if special officer is not appointed for it, he said. “Actual land acquisition will start after state government gives its nod for section 6 of Land Acquisition,” he added.
