Dabo club Nagpur Efforts to reopen the controversial Dabo Club, which was shut down for 45 days following the murder of two young men, have triggered strong anger and fear among the families of the victims. The incident took place in the early hours of December 26 last year during a Christmas party at Dabo Club. Pranav Ranavare (27) was allegedly killed after a minor dispute. His friend, Gaurav Karda (34), was badly injured in the same incident and later died during treatment. The Sonegaon police arrested six accused - Soumya Deshmukh, Mehul alias Monu Rahate, Rajiv Chawla, Abhay Jhamtani, Gappu Sharma and Tushar Nankani. All the accused are currently lodged in jail. The club is owned by Directors Devyani Vijay Wadettiwar, Karan Vikram Thakkar and Mohd Hamza Rayeen. A multi-tier security system and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras will function to ensure foolproof safety during the sixth One-Day International match between India and Australia at Vidarbha Cricket Association’s (VCA) Jamtha Stadium on October 30.
Addressing a press conference on Superintendent of Police (Rural), Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma said that whole premises of the stadium will be covered under CCTV cameras to monitor the movement of the general public in and outside the stadium, entry to dressing rooms and all parking stands.
Five SP rank officers, 11 DySPs, 40 Inspectors, 70 sub-inspectors, and more than 2,000 constabulary force would be deployed for the match, he added. 11 dog squads and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads (BDDS) would be engaged at all entry points, the SP said.
Apart from the city police, State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) personnel and Quick Response Teams (QRT) will also be deployed in and around the stadium, Dr. Sharma said. More than 40 metal detectors, door frame monitor would be installed at all entry points as security measure. Dr. Sharma ruled out any compromise on the security measures, he said. Traffic on of heavy vehicles on Wardha road would be divert during between 11 am and 2 pm and 7 pm and 10 pm.
VCA Chairpersons Prakash Dixit said that the stadium has seating capacity of 45,000. However, 41,500 seats are available to the general public. The rest of the tickets will be reserved for sponsors, and the complimentary category. The association expects to earn around Rs 4.5 crore from ticket sale.

60 vendors escape police verification
While Nagpur Rural Police claims that allowing eatables by spectators constitute a security risk but the 60 odd vendors selected to hawk food items have escaped police verification. Asked about this apparent contradiction, Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma said it is not possible to verify antecedents of each of the vendor. Further he said, the vendors are associated with VCA since long thereby giving indications that no security checks are needed.
Food, water, flags with sticks not allowed
Cops will not allow spectators to carry food items, drinking water, flag with sticks with them inside the stadium due to security reasons. SP Dr Sharma cited security reason for the decision.
“We will allow only small purse, ticket and mobile phones,” said Dr Sharma. The measure will be taken for security of the spectators, he said.
