The state police have started using Crime-OS, a powerful Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool developed under the MARVEL project (Maharashtra Research and Vigilance for Enhanced Law Enforcement). This tool, built in partnership with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur, works like the co-pilot feature in Microsoft Office - but to solve crimes. It helps police save valuable time and reduces the heavy workload of investigations. A housewife committed suicide after a minor tiff with husband who had expressed his displeasure over making andakari. Police identified the woman as Deepika Nimje (23), a resident of Vijay Nagar. She has a 6-months old child and she hanged herself at her house under the jurisdiction of Kalamna police station on Saturday morning.Deepika crept out of bedroom where her husband, Sanjay, and son were asleep.
On Friday night, Deepika had cooked andakari and Sanjay ticked of the former as he did not like its taste. Deepika who was known for her shot temperament got angry on hearing the comments and a heated exchange of words occurred between the couple. Police added that the fight between the husband-wife continued till they retired to bed for night.
In the three rooms house, the couple along with their son were sleeping the bedroom. On the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, Deepika in a heat of moment hanged herself from a wooden raft with a saree.
The incident came to fore when the child started crying. The husband woke-up and found Deepika missing from the bed and as he stepped into living room he was shocked to notice the dangling body of his wife. Deepika and Sanjay were married for four years, said PSI N B Gawande who attend the crime spot.
Kalamna police have registered a case of accidental death and started investigations.
