Shocker : Push to reopen Dabo Club after Christmas Night double murder

Dabo club Nagpur Efforts to reopen the controversial Dabo Club, which was shut down for 45 days following the murder of two young men, have triggered strong anger and fear among the families of the victims. The incident took place in the early hours of December 26 last year during a Christmas party at Dabo Club. Pranav Ranavare (27) was allegedly killed after a minor dispute. His friend, Gaurav Karda (34), was badly injured in the same incident and later died during treatment.  The Sonegaon police arrested six accused - Soumya Deshmukh, Mehul alias Monu Rahate, Rajiv Chawla, Abhay Jhamtani, Gappu Sharma and Tushar Nankani. All the accused are currently lodged in jail. The club is owned by Directors Devyani Vijay Wadettiwar, Karan Vikram Thakkar and Mohd Hamza Rayeen. Death sentence awarded to duo in Lonara rape-murder case

A fast-track court on Thursday awarded death sentence to two dreaded criminals after holding them guilty of committing rape and murder of a 19-year old girl at Lonara village of Kalmeshwar taluka in 2005.
District Judge V P Ingle convicted Rakesh Manohar Kamble (31), a resident of Babulkheda, Ajni and Amarshingh Kishansingh Thakur (30), a resident of Bajrang Nagar, Babulkheda and awarded death sentence after finding them guilty of rape and murder of Kanchan Shyamrao Meshram, a resident of Lonara in full public view on wee hours of December 18, 2005. The court also sentenced them to 10 years’ imprisonment for outraging modesty, 10 years’ imprisonment for kidnapping and abducting the girl and five years’ imprisonment for criminal intimidation.
According the prosecution, the accused entered the house of the deceased in Lonara village and tried to abduct her when she was inside her parental home. Fearing for safety, the girl fled from the house to neighbouring house of her uncle. Without caring for any consequences, the duo blinded with sole motive to satisfy their lust, followed her and barged inside the neighbouring house and forcefully abducted her by dishing out threats to her relatives. The accused warned them of dire consequences, if anybody dares to stop them and took out sharp edged weapon to shoo away the crowd. The accused then took the hapless girl to nearby farm and brutally raped her, assaulted her in beastly manner. After satisfying their lust, the pervert accused then murdered the victim stabbing her with sharp edged weapons on various parts of body. Body of the girl was found after four hours of incident in the farm.
Kalmeshwar police had registered the case under sections 302, 376(2)(G), 364, 336 506 212, 216, 120(B), 457 and 34 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and launched probe into the matter.
The prosecution led by Adv Kalpana Pandey submitted a near water-proof case before the court producing 19 witnesses. The prosecution also submitted medical report, which proved the girl was raped by the accused persons. All the eye witnesses confirmed the shocking incident which had resulted into public outcry in Lonara and stood with prosecution, undeterred by criminal past of the accused persons.
The prosecution described it as rarest of rare case and demanded death penalty for the accused. The prosecution said that the accused had committed heinous crime. The prosecution also proved history of the accused and said that the accused were booked earlier under MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) and involved in various murder and robberies in the area. The accused are threat for society and don’t deserve any leniency and mercy, said the prosecution.
However, defence lawyers said that the accused were not involved in the crime. Adv Dhut was defence lawyer.
