Accused was caught in the evening with the help of CCTV footage

In yet another heinous crime, a youth sexually exploited a 6-year-old innocent girl by promising her an ice-cream during a marriage ceremony under the jurisdiction of Kanhan police station on Friday. Tension prevailed in the marriage hall as the incident came to fore. Kanhan Police caught the accused with the help of CCTV footage.Police said that the girl had come to a marriage hall in Kanhan, along with her parents, to participate in a marriage ceremony. The girl was playing with kids in the hall. Meanwhile, accused Rakesh alias Chakradhar Jagoji Bele (27), a resident of Tekadi village arrived in the hall and took the girl to first floor by promising her an ice-cream. The accused sexually exploited the girl and fled away.
When parents of the girl started searching for her, they noticed that the girl was crying on stairs of the first floor. The girl narrated the incident to her parents, who then informed Kanhan Police.
Staff from Kanhan Police Station led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Santosh Wankhede and Police Inspector Ashok Bagul rushed to the spot and started investigations immediately. Police collected CCTV footage and identified the accused. The cops laid trap in Tarsa and nabbed the accused. Cops booked the accused under Section 376 of IPC, and provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
