Alert women in Kamna Nagar foiled a rape bid on a 8-year-old girl by a physically impaired boy. After the incident that occurred under the jurisdiction of Kalamna police station on Friday afternoon, angry residents matched to police station triggering sensation. They pelted stones and even attempt to set ablaze house of the alleged accused Shravan Ramesh Hatgade (19).
Police informed that Shravan managed to escape residents wrath but his father was thrashed and was dragged to police station. His mother and siblings were also not spared by the mob who vented their anger on them.
Around 2 pm, the victim was walking to a nearby shop when the youth stopped her and dragged her to an isolated area in the locality. The girl stated to the police that she tried to scream but Sharavan gagged her and laid her down in the pit.
Around same time a woman staying in the nearby building found something amiss taking place. She immediately alerted other neighbouring women who rushed and saved the girl in nick of time.
Seeing the women approaching the spot Sharavan fled from the spot. The minor was found in semi-naked condition by the group of women. She was calmed down and given shelter by the women before taking her to police station.
The victim’s parents alleged that Shravan would often touch the girl and harass her whenever she would walk to school. However no one took notice since they thought Shravan was handicapped.

IGP Mallikarjuna Prasanna By Dheeraj Fartode  Published on Feb/17/2019 NOT many are aware of an episode during the then US President Barack Obama’s visit to India in 2010. The world’s most powerful man was made to wait for 11 minutes in his car while an Indian cop took on American officials for their unwarranted interference in the US President’s security. KM Mallikarjuna Prasanna, Special Inspector General of Police of Nagpur Range, still continues to work with the same pride, wearing his patriotism on the sleeve. “Had they (Americans) deployed their personnel for area security, then the message would have been Indians are unable to protect VIPs in their nation,” recounted Prasanna on the episode that is one of the highlights of his distinguished career of a skillful investigator. The story of the IPS officer of 2000 batch is worth a film. In fact, a movie (Nagarjun-starrer ‘Officer’) has already been made by Ram Gopal Verma last year. His real life script also ha

Just around a decade ago the river bank housing Ambhora used to see a flux of tourists from all over the State. However, the banks were submerged in water after the construction of Gosikhurd dam which led to rise in water levels. Since then, tourist flow at Ambhora has also declined. However, now with the construction of the new bridge tourists will get a chance see the scenic backwaters across the river bed which is
