28 firearms, 862 NDPS Cases, Rs 7.7 Crore; Seized: Rural Police crack down hard in 2025

With the seizure of 28 illegal fire-arms and 57 cartridges, registration of 4,712 liquor cases, and a sharp rise to 862 NDPS cases , the Nagpur Rural Police delivered one of their toughest crackdowns on crime in 2025. Along with this, preventive action was taken against 2,178 accused involved in illegal activities.  Large-scale operations against crime and unlawful businesses led to seizures worth Rs 7.7 crore by the police during the year. Preventive action against  1,496  According to official records, preventive action under Section 126 of the BNSS increased sharply from 569 cases in 2024 to 1,496 cases in 2025 which marked a 163 per cent rise. Preventive actions under Section 129 BNSS also increased from 1,644 cases to 1,965 cases. Violations of preventive bonds rose from 85 cases in 2024 to 201 cases in 2025, and fines recovered through courts jumped from Rs 11,600 to Rs 23,66,200. Rail Kamgar Sena to support DPMRMU

Dakshin Purva Madhya Railway Mens Union (DPMRMU) has got a shot in its arm for the forthcoming Secret Ballot as it has been extended support from Rail Kamgar Sena (RKS). This was informed at a media conference by Salil Lawrence, General Secretary, DPMRMU, and Manoj Samarth, Working President, RKS, Bilaspur Zone, the other day.

During last Secret Ballot, DPMRMU had gained 55 per cent vote share while RKS had managed just five per cent vote. For the forthcoming election to determine railway employees representative, the two Union have entered into an alliance. Lawrence said he is hopeful their alliance would emerge victorious and listed the problems that were resolved by his Union during last five years. We are working to solve problems of workers and now with RKS with us the voice of employees would be more powerful.

Samarth in a reply to a question stated that as both Unions have same agenda we agreed on a common minimum programme.” Nagpur, Bilaspur and Raipur Divisions form the Bilaspur Zones under South Eastern Central Railway (SECR) and there are 38,000 voters who are eligible to cast their ballot. Nagpur Division has 11000, Bilaspur has 17,000 while Raipur has 10,000 voters. Divisional Secretary of RKS Sanjay Sonare, RKS office bearers S Pandey, M Tigga, Munna Ganram, SECRMU office bearers Dinesh Kubhre, Vinod Pardhi, Ghanshyam Wakodikar, S K Sinha, Bishwajeet Dey were also present at the press conference.

DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
