115 organisations attends hearing of OBC Commission for reservation in local bodies

RSS HQ recce: JeM terrorist in Nagpur ATS custody

THE Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) Nagpur has got custody of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist from Jammu & Kashmir who had conducted recce of Dr Hedgewar Smriti Bhavan of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Reshimbag in July last year. Raees Ahmed Sheikh Asadulla Sheikh (26), a resident of Khati Mohalla, Chandara, Awantipora town of Pulwama district in J&K, is being thoroughly interrogated by the ATS since the last two days. During interrogation, Raees reportedly told the investigators that a person named Omar, who is operational commander of JeM’s Nawabpur (Pakistan)-based terrorist launching pad, was his handler. Raees came to Nagpur by a Delhi-Mumbai-Nagpur flight on July 13 and checked into a hotel in Sitabuldi area. Strong police bandobast of around 3,000 police personnel including two companies of State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) would be deployed on the occasion of Holi and Shab-e-Barat on Thursday and Friday. The focus of the police would be on preventing unruly activities, including applying colours forcibly, indecent behaviour with women and illegal consumption of liquor. Familicides on rise : 21 lives lost in two years in city

Familicides cases in which husband or wife murders their partner and children was the rare phenomenon in Nagpur city. Sadly, such cases are on rise in the past two years as a whopping 21 persons of four families have lost their lives. Rural police enforce helmet rule after 466 road mishaps deaths last year

ALARMED by the big number of deaths in road accidents in 2021 in rural region of the district, Nagpur Rural Police are leaving no stone unturned to mitigate the fatality rate. Making safety measures stringent for two-wheeler riders in the district, the Nagpur Rural Police have made it mandatory for riders to wear helmets. Police action against helmet-less riders is in full swing in the rural areas this year. As against 843 riders getting fined for not wearing helmet in entire 2021, the police have fined 900 riders in just two months of 2022. It may be mentioned here that 466 persons were killed in road accidents reported in Nagpur district last year. Of them, 176 deceased persons (37.78 per cent) were two-wheeler riders; 85 were pedestrians (18 per cent) and 110 were car or taxi drivers/occupants (23 per cent). GRP Nagpur double the detection rate in cellphone theft cases

SP GRP M Raj Kumar Retrieving cellphones stolen from running trains is one of the most difficult tasks for the police as either the thief or the victim covers a distance of hundreds of kilometres before the incident comes to fore. However, the Government Railway Police (GRP) Nagpur seems to have managed to find a solution to the arduous task. Continuous tracking of the gadgets and regular follow up of the cases is helping the railway police to double the detection rate in cellphone theft cases, within a year. Moreover, tracking the device, the GRP personnel went up to Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Visakhapatnam to nab thief. According to statistics of GRP Nagpur, the detection rate was just 14 per cent as out of reported 350 cases, just 48 cases of cellphone thefts were solved in 2020. Debt-ridden man ends life after killing wife, kids in Jaripatka

A 40-YEAR-OLD man allegedly killed his wife and two children by stabbing them with a sharp-edged-weapon and then died by suicide at his rented house in Jaripatka area on Tuesday. The man was reportedly depressed over losing a huge amount of money in cricket betting, police officials said. The deceased was identified as Madan Agrawal, his wife Kiran (33), son Rishabh (10) and daughter Toshita alias Tiya (5), all residents of housing board society, near Dayanand Park, Jaripatka. Police are suspecting that the alleged murder-suicide took place in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. “As per preliminary investigations, Madan might have killed his wife first by slitting her throat and later stabbed the children to death,” a senior official said. Soon after, Madan hanged himself from a ceiling fan with a nylon rope, said police. Cops also recovered a big knife from the spot.
