Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Demonetisation : SBI employee dies of heart attack while on duty

The scramble by millions of panicked Indians to exchange banned currency or deposit them turned tragic when a bank employee of State Bank of India (SBI) Nagpur Branch died due to cardiac arrest in the bank on Friday afternoon.  The nationwide toll due to various reasons related to demonetisation reached to 31. According to police, Rampantula Venkatesh Rajesh (51) was busy doing cash works in the bank when he suffered a cardiac arrest at around 11.45 am.  He started sweating profusely and soon collapsed in the bank. Employees and customers panicked after the incident and offered water to him. As R V Rajesh was not responding, the bank employees rushed him to Wockhardt Hospital where the attending doctors tried hard to revive him. He was declared dead after all efforts failed. Demonetisation: There could be riot, says Apex court

Hearing petitions challenging the ban on Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes the Apex court of India warned that this is very serious. People have become frantic, people are affected. There may be riots. The bench led by Chief Justice of India TS Thakur, and comprising Justice Anil R Dave asked Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi if there was a problem with printing new notes. The CJI then countered it by saying that there was difficulty and suffering and the government cannot dispute that. The apex court took exception to the government's decision to reduce the exchange limit to Rs 2000. The Attorney General told the court that any case relating to demonetisation should be heard by the apex court only and High Courts should not be allowed to hear such petitions.  "People have the right to approach courts. Cash of Rs 91 lakh seized from BJP minister in Maharashtra

Cash worth over Rs 91 lakh belonging to Lokmangal Group of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s MLA and Cooperative minister in the state government Subhash Deshmukh, was seized by the squad of Osmanabad municipality on Wednesday. The cash reportedly comprised of the now-invalid tender of Rs 1000. After news of seizure of notes spread in the Maharashtra, the opposition united and launched salvo at the government for indulging in corruption. Indo-China joint military exercise Earlier on 15 November, the Chinese contingent from the 13 Group Army, Chengdu Military Region comprising of one Infantry Company along with supporting staff landed at the Lohegaon airfield in two IL- 76 Aircrafts from China With an aim to enhace confidence and trust between Armies of India and China, an opening ceremony of sixth India China Joint Training Exercise “Hand – in – Hand 2016” was held at the parade ground in Aundh Military Camp, Pune on Wednesday.  The Opening Ceremony was followed by both the contingents displaying their weapons which included assault rifles, grenade launchers and other sophisticated equipment.
