Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Srivastava's report one sided, Collector not to write ACRs of Superintendent of Police: DGP

By Dheeraj Fartode Maharashtra's Director General of Police (DGP) Pravin Dixit has rejected the report into the spat between Collector and Superintendent of Police in Bhandara, that had stirred hornet’s nest among the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre in State. Principal Secretary (Revenue) Manu Kumar Srivastava was appointed by State Government to probe the matter and he had submitted the report to Government and made certain recommendations. One of the recommendation which Srivastava made was to delegated powers of writing annual confidential records (ACRs) of SP's to District Collector. This particular recommendation had the IPS cadre seething with anger as they claimed it an unwarranted intrusion on their powers. Cops bust inter-State gang of online fraudsters

By Dheeraj Fartode Crime Branch sleuths, on Tuesday night, busted an inter-State gang of online fraudsters and seized gold and cash totalling Rs 4.80 lakh. The cops arrested three young members of the gang, which operates out of West Bengal, came to the city to withdraw money.  The accused were identified as Krishnakumar Drupdeo Mishra (28), Raja Manjeet Bhattacharya (25), and Santosh Kumar Parsnath Yadav (34), all residents of Kolkata, West Bengal. The state have also reported highest fatalities in railway accidents, 20.1% (5,024 out of 25,006 deaths) By Dheeraj Fartode WITH 7,969 railway accidents and 5,024 deaths on railway tracks in the year 2014, Maharashtra has accounted for maximum railway accidents and deaths occurred in the country. A total of 28,360 railway accidents caused death of 25,006 persons across India. In Maharashtra alone, 3,208 out of 3,882 persons were injured in railways accidents. According to report of National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) on railway accidents, a total of 28,360 cases of railway accidents were reported across the India, showing a decrease of 9.2% during the year 2014 over 2013 (31,236 cases). 28,360 railways accidents rendered 3,882 persons injured and 25,006 dead during 2014. UAV Panchi's full configuration flight by October 2016 : DRDO

Full configuration flight of Panchi, a variant of Nishant, the unmanned aerial vehicle developed (UAV) by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for military use, is slated for later next year.
