Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. DGP’s missive to all transferred cops to join new post in 48hrs or lose salary

Many officers who were transferred from their posting during general transfers 2013, had somehow evaded to join the new posting and were trying to stay at the present location. “Monthly salary of these officers will be held up, if they do not report at their new postings,” said the DGP. By Dheeraj Fartode A fast-track court on Thursday awarded death sentence to two dreaded criminals after holding them guilty of committing rape and murder of a 19-year old girl at Lonara village of Kalmeshwar taluka in 2005. District Judge V P Ingle convicted Rakesh Manohar Kamble (31), a resident of Babulkheda, Ajni and Amarshingh Kishansingh Thakur (30), a resident of Bajrang Nagar, Babulkheda and awarded death sentence after finding them guilty of rape and murder of Kanchan Shyamrao Meshram, a resident of Lonara in full public view on wee hours of December 18, 2005.
