An alert citizens foiled at attempt of cheating by fraudsters with the help of Crime Branch. The police have arrested two persons including a woman for attempting to dupe the alert citizen in fake gold deal of Rs eight lakh.  The accused have been identified as Kanhaiya Hira Kase (35), a resident of Kashi Nagar, Rameswari Road and Deepa Dilip Rathod (38), a resident of Plot NO. 161, Kashi Nagar. Complainant Manoj Jawaharlal Shahu (39), a resident of Plot No. 25, Manav Nagar, Nari Road, runs a shop of firecrackers at Kapil Nagar. The accused came to the shop and purchased some firecrackers. Soon after, they told Shahu that they have numismatic coins which were found during construction of their house. As Shahu showed interest, the accused had noted his mobile number and promised to return with the coins. The accused returned to the shop on Thursday and showed him 10 gold coins. The ACB needs a normative approval of Principal Secretary of WRD under Section 17 (a) of Prevention of Corruption Act (PC Act) for filing of FIR and sanction under Section 19 (A) of PC Act from the Principal Secretary of WRD and Accountant General (AG) Maharashtra-2 for initiating judicial proceedings against government official after registration of FIR. “The Principal Secretary (WRD) has not given approval since August 2018 for filing of FIRs,” Superintendent of Police, Anti-Corruption Bureau Rashmi Nandedkar revealed on Saturday. “We are conducting inquiry into 302 irrigation contracts allotted for 17 irrigation projects...

Two persons were killed while a woman was seriously injured when a wall of a neighbouring house collapsed on their house following incessant rain on early Saturday morning. The incident occurred at Borujwada village in Saoner tehsil. Condition of the woman is reportedly critical, said police.  The deceased have been identified as Suresh Ramkrishna Karamkar (38) and Atul Shivram Uikey (17) while the injured person is - Urmila Uikey (35).  According to police, Atul, Suresh and Urmila were living in rented accommodation at Borujwada village at the house of Rajendra Nimbalkar.  A wall of neighbouring Natthu Thote’s house was collapsed and fell on the Nimbalkar’s house when the victims were in slumber at 5 am. A young woman riding pillion on her father’s scooterette was crushed to death by a sand laden truck at Dahegaon turning in Khaparkheda police station area on Saturday morning. Angry villagers blocked the road and pelted stones at vehicles following the accident forcing the police for deployment of special squad of Riot Control Police (RCP).  The deceased woman has been Madhuri Rahul Modak, a resident of Kamptee. According to police, Madhuri had came to her maternal home at Walni for Bhaubeej three-days ago. She was going to Kamptee on her father’s Activa moped (MH-40/AB-0897) when the accident occurred at 2 pm. With model code of conduct relaxed, Commissionerate is firming up plans to change the officers in charge at various police stations who are not upto mark. TEENAGE girls are more prone to committing suicide than adults when it comes to failed love as ratio of female suicide is 30 per cent more than male suicide under 18 years while ratio of male suicides is more than 26 per cent than female in adults. According to National Crime Record Bureau’s (NCRB) data, 665 women below 18 years committed suicide due to failed love in year 2018 as compared to 466 men who ended lives due to same reason in that period. Suicides by women were 30 per cent more than males in that age group. However, the trend took a big turn in above 18 years age group where 39 per cent more men committed suicide than women. A total of 2611 men ended their lives due to failed love while number of women for the same reason was 1600 in India. Family problems and illness were the major causes of suicides which accounted for 30.4 per cent and 17.7 per cent of total suicides respectively during 2018.
