| Dabo Club Nagpur |
After the shocking murder outside the notorious Dabo Club, the city police have started probing a possible drug angle linked to the incident. The brutal killing has raised serious questions about what was happening inside the club that night and whether drug consumption triggered violent behaviour among the accused.
Following the closure of Dabo Club for 45 days, police are now focusing on whether the accused had consumed drugs and came to the club. Investigators believe that substance abuse may have played a key role in escalating a minor argument into a deadly attack. Senior Police Inspector Nitin Magar of Sonegaon police station confirmed that blood samples of the accused have been sent for forensic examination to check for drug consumption.
Police are also closely examining the role of the club management, especially regarding CCTV surveillance. Despite clear instructions to keep the entire premises under camera coverage, several key areas were found without CCTV cameras. As a result, crucial moments of the quarrel between the accused and the victims were not captured.
It may be noted that Dabo Club is jointly owned by Devyani Vijay Wadettiwar, Karan Vikram Thakkar, and Mohd Hamja Rayeen. According to police, the incident began after a young man allegedly asked for the phone number of a girl who had come from Mumbai to attend a late-night party at the club. The argument escalated and later moved outside the premises, where eight persons allegedly attacked two youths. During the assault, Pranay Naresh Nannavare (28), a resident of Mahal, was brutally beaten to death.
Role of Mumbai girl under scanner
The role of the Mumbai-based girl is also under investigation. Police are trying to find out why she left the city early the next morning and the purpose of her sudden visit. Sources claim that many women used to visit the club late at night, and since the club operated till early morning hours, anti-social elements often gathered there for illegal activities. The investigation is ongoing.
