Nagpur-Katol Road inspection exposes serious safety lapses, High Court issues notice to NHAI

By Dheeraj Fartode The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court has taken strong note of serious deficiencies on the Nagpur–Katol–Kalmeshwar road after a detailed inspection by a three-member committee. Based on the committee’s findings, the court on Tuesday issued a show-cause notice to the project director of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and asked for a reply by January 6. The matter was heard by Justices Anil Kilor and Rajnish Vyas. Earlier, the court had ordered a site inspection to verify whether the development work on the Nagpur-Katol road was completed as claimed by NHAI and to assess how much work was still pending. Accordingly, a committee comprising Advocates Ashwin Deshpande, Prasad Bawankule, Aradhya Pandey, along with NHAI’s lawyer Adv Anish Kathane, conducted the inspection on Saturday and submitted its report on Monday. CP Dr Singal Receives President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service

Commissioner of Police (CP), Dr Ravinder Kumar Singal, was awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Police Service. This prestigious recognition underlined his remarkable leadership and dedicated efforts in policing, stated a press release of City police. 

Dr Singal, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 1996 Maharashtra cadre, took charge as Nagpur’s Commissioner in February 2024. Since then, he has launched several important initiatives, including anti-drug campaigns, women’s safety programs, and the adoption of modern technology like the Artificial Intelligence-based SIMBA system for crime control, the press release claimed. 

Dr. Singal has also successfully managed large public events and festivals and ensured ensuring safety and security across the city. With a career spanning 28 years, he has served in various key positions in Maharashtra, including in Amravati, Nashik, and Mumbai. He also worked with the United Nations Mission in Kosovo, where he coordinated with various international agencies. His efforts have earned him several accolades, including a DGP Medal in 2003 for his handling of the Kumbh Mela in Nashik.

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State.
