Teenager mows down by school bus

A 13-year-old student of Marie Poussepin's Academy was crushed to death by a recklessly driven school bus near the school located in the Mhasala area of Koradi police station on Tuesday afternoon.

Just after leaving the school campus, the bus hit two motorcycles coming from the opposite direction and rammed the vehicle into a school van. Students who were boarding the van got trapped under the wheels of the bus. The uncontrolled bus moved on hitting the vehicles and stalled only after hitting an electric pole. The heart-wrenching incident created panic and chaos in the Mhasala area. The parents of the deceased student were crying inconsolably in the hospital after seeing the body of their child, a police official said.

The deceased was identified as Samyak Dinesh Kalambe (13), a resident of Barakholi Indora. He was a student of standard VIII of Marie Poussin Academy, the official said.

The school bus (MH-40/AP-0497) was driven by Ambadas Kavdu Ramteke (70). He drove the bus out of the school campus and took a right turn. After crossing nearly 50 metres of distance, the bus hit two motorcycles coming from opposite directions. The motorcycle riders fell on the road. Later, the bus hit a parked school van in which school students were boarding. Samyak was one of them. He came under the wheels of the bus and got crushed. Two other students were also injured in the accident, police said. People standing nearby ran towards the bus to stop. However, the driver failed to control the bus and hit an electric pole on the right side, police said. The live electric wire fell on another school van. There were many school students standing near the van. They also fled the spot to save their life, the official said.

Profusely bleeding Samyak was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him dead. Koradi police rushed to the spot and arrested the bus driver. He reportedly told the police that the bus moved in first gear when he was applying reverse gear. He panicked after the bus hit the motorycles. An offence under provisions of Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicle Act was registered by Koradi police.

IGP Mallikarjuna Prasanna By Dheeraj Fartode  Published on Feb/17/2019 NOT many are aware of an episode during the then US President Barack Obama’s visit to India in 2010. The world’s most powerful man was made to wait for 11 minutes in his car while an Indian cop took on American officials for their unwarranted interference in the US President’s security. KM Mallikarjuna Prasanna, Special Inspector General of Police of Nagpur Range, still continues to work with the same pride, wearing his patriotism on the sleeve. “Had they (Americans) deployed their personnel for area security, then the message would have been Indians are unable to protect VIPs in their nation,” recounted Prasanna on the episode that is one of the highlights of his distinguished career of a skillful investigator. The story of the IPS officer of 2000 batch is worth a film. In fact, a movie (Nagarjun-starrer ‘Officer’) has already been made by Ram Gopal Verma last year. His real life script also ha
