The seizure was made from a truck by the police while acting on a tip-off, police said. The driver and the cleaner of the truck were taken into custody, and a case was registered.

The accused have been identified as driver Someshwarrao alias Bujji Kotipillam (50), a resident of Rahulpallam, tehsil - Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh and cleaner Balemananaji alias Nani Paidaykapu Balema (25), a resident of Vaigamyapuram, District - Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh.

In-charge of ANC Police Inspector Manoj Sidam and in-charge of Social Security Branch (SSB) Shubhangi Deshmukh started to draw a plan. As a result, the police laid a trap near Jai Bhole Dhaba in Kapsi. The truck was to reach Nagpur on Tuesday evening, but a tyre of the truck got punctured on the route. The driver fell asleep after rectifying the puncture. Still, the police remained on alert mode on the highway.

On Wednesday morning, the police spotted the truck and stopped it. On questioning the driver, he said that the truck was loaded with sacks of agricultural fertilizers. The police summoned a dog squad. As soon as dog Surya, who recently joined the City Police, signalled to the police, the goods of the truck were unloaded with the help of labourers. The sacks of Marijuana were found under the sacks of fertilizers. The cops immediately seized the Ganja worth Rs 2.33 crore and fertilizers worth Rs 49,400/- and the truck.

A police official said that the truck driver revealed the names of Ambadas Raghu Janje and Subhash Tukaram Pandule, both residents of Ashti town of Beed district as receiver of the Ganja. IGP Mallikarjuna Prasanna By Dheeraj Fartode  Published on Feb/17/2019 NOT many are aware of an episode during the then US President Barack Obama’s visit to India in 2010. The world’s most powerful man was made to wait for 11 minutes in his car while an Indian cop took on American officials for their unwarranted interference in the US President’s security. KM Mallikarjuna Prasanna, Special Inspector General of Police of Nagpur Range, still continues to work with the same pride, wearing his patriotism on the sleeve. “Had they (Americans) deployed their personnel for area security, then the message would have been Indians are unable to protect VIPs in their nation,” recounted Prasanna on the episode that is one of the highlights of his distinguished career of a skillful investigator. The story of the IPS officer of 2000 batch is worth a film. In fact, a movie (Nagarjun-starrer ‘Officer’) has already been made by Ram Gopal Verma last year. His real life script also ha
