  Sitting amid the blackened remains of his home, 32-year-old Nikesh Gawali carefully broke open a half-melted plastic box with a screwdriver. His hands shook slightly, not out of fear, but out of hope. “I’m trying to find my daughter Aarti’s gold earrings,” he said quietly, still focused on the box. “She’s just five. I got them made recently after months of labour work.” The plastic box, warped and blackened by heat, was one of the few things left from his two-room house on the outskirts of Dhamangaon village . All around him lay ash, broken tin sheets and charred wooden beams. The walls had cracked under the heat and the front room’s tin roof had caved in completely. Man murdered on suspicion of being police informer, 2 held

A man was killed by two history-sheeters in his house who suspected he was a police informer. The sensational murder took place at Takalghat village in MIDC Butibori police station area, police said.

The deceased was identified as Sunil Gulab Bhaje (40), a resident of Gangapur Takalghat village. The police arrested accused Amol Dilip Gedam (20) and Vansh Arun Maji, both resident of Gangapur Takalghat village within an hour of the murder.

According to police, the accused were indulged in thefts incl
uding steel material. Two offences of thefts were registered against him at MIDC Butibori police station last year. On Saturday night, the accused consumed alcohol and barged into the house of Sunil. They attacked Sunil with a wooden rod in front of his wife Babita. Sustaining grievous injuries, Sunil collapsed on the ground in the pool of blood. Family members rushed him to hospital where he succumbed to the injuries. Staff of MIDC Butibori police station led by Police Inspector Ashok Koli rushed to the spot and inspected the crime scene. On the statement of Babita, the police arrested the killers within an hour. An offence under Sections 302, 457 and 34 of Indian Penal Code.
