An engineer, out for a night walk with his friends, was killed after being hit by a train in Narendra Nagar on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Vinay Singh alias Rahul Rajesh Chauhan (25), a resident of Navnath Society. According to police, Rahul had completed engineering and was looking for a job. Every night he used to go for evening walks near the Narendra Nagar flyover with his friends. On Tuesday night also all three went for a walk. While crossing the railway track from Over-bridge, both his friends stopped to attend nature's call. But Rahul went ahead. Meanwhile, a train came in a great speed from another side. Seeing the train approaching, both the friends alerted Rahul but he did not hear their voice and continued walking. He was hit by the train and died on the spot. The youths informed his family member about the accident. Rana Pratap Nagar police rushed to the spot and performed Panchnama. The body was sent for post-mortem to GMCH. The police are questioning his friends. A case of accidental death was registered by Rana Pratap Nagar police. Further investigation is on.
By Dheeraj Fartode Maharashtra's Director General of Police (DGP) Pravin Dixit has rejected the report into the spat between Collector and Superintendent of Police in Bhandara, that had stirred hornet’s nest among the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre in State. Principal Secretary (Revenue) Manu Kumar Srivastava was appointed by State Government to probe the matter and he had submitted the report to Government and made certain recommendations. One of the recommendation which Srivastava made was to delegated powers of writing annual confidential records (ACRs) of SP's to District Collector. This particular recommendation had the IPS cadre seething with anger as they claimed it an unwarranted intrusion on their powers. DGP Pravin Dixit DGP Dixit when contacted by The Hitavada to ascertain his views said he had read the report and found it to be totally one sided.
