Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. While family of 20 sleeping at house, thieves decamp with booty of Rs 20 lakh

When a family of 20-members was in slumber at their house in Hudkeshwar, the thieves smoothly entered the house and decamped with gold ornaments and cash collectivelly worth Rs 20 lakh, Hudkeshwar police said. The police are suspecting that someone close to the family was involved in the theft.
A police official said that the theft took place between 1 am and 5.30 am when all the family members of Kripashankar Mitlaal Shahu (36) were sleeping at their house near Shitala Mata temple, Hudkeshwar Khurd. Families of Kripashankar and his three brothers live in the grand house constructed on a 4,000 sq ft plot. The family is involved in the business of grocery. The thieves entered the house after breaking open latch of the main door. They picked a key from the prayer room and opened a cupboard. Later they got a key to the main cupboard. The thieves opened four cupboards and pocketed gold jewellery weighing 35 tolas worth Rs 16 lakhs and Rs four lakh cash.
The theft came to fore on Tuesday at 5.30 am. Kripashankar's wife woke up to see the cupboard was open. She raised an alarm after suspecting theft. According to police, gold ornaments and cash collectivelly worth Rs 9.10 lakh were stolen by the thieves. DCP (Zone IV) Dr Akshay Shinde and Hudkeshwar's PI Pratap Bhosale rushed to the spot along with their team. Dog Squad and Fingerprint Experts were also summoned for investigation.
The police are suspecting that someone close to the family was involved in the theft. The thief was aware of the activities of the family members. He knew that the four brothers go to sleep in their respective rooms at night. The wardrobe is kept in another room. After entering the house, the thief locked the doors of the adjacent rooms from outside, the police said.An offence under Section 457 and 380 of Indian Penal Code was registered by Hudkeshwar police. Longest cable-stayed bridge to boost tourism at Ambhora

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion.
