A Village Burnt Overnight: Tears, Loss and Survival in Dhamangaon Blaze

  Sitting amid the blackened remains of his home, 32-year-old Nikesh Gawali carefully broke open a half-melted plastic box with a screwdriver. His hands shook slightly, not out of fear, but out of hope. “I’m trying to find my daughter Aarti’s gold earrings,” he said quietly, still focused on the box. “She’s just five. I got them made recently after months of labour work.” The plastic box, warped and blackened by heat, was one of the few things left from his two-room house on the outskirts of Dhamangaon village . All around him lay ash, broken tin sheets and charred wooden beams. The walls had cracked under the heat and the front room’s tin roof had caved in completely. Teenager killed after bike got punctured and rams into road-divider

A 15-year-old boy was killed when his motorcycle got punctured and rammed into a road divider on Ambazari bypass on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Piyush Sushil Thakre (15), a resident of Jai Nagar, Pandharabodi. He was studying in Standard X at Dharampeth school and younger child of Sushil Thakre who is working as a security guard with Canara Bank.
According to police, Thakre took the motorcycle of grocery shop owner Balitkumar Barsinge (30), a resident of Jai Nagar, on Friday afternoon. Piyush had cordial relations with Balitkumar as he was helping him in work sometimes. He took the bike on Ambazari bypass. The rear wheel of the bike suddenly got punctured. As a result, Piyush lost control over the two-wheeler and the bike rammed into the road-divider. He fell on the divider and sustained grievous head injuries as he was not wearing a helmet. Passers-by rushed him to the hospital where he breathed his last.
A case under Sections 279, 304 (a) of Indian Penal Code read with Section 5/180 of MVA was registered by Ambazari police. Further investigation is on.
