A Village Burnt Overnight: Tears, Loss and Survival in Dhamangaon Blaze

  Sitting amid the blackened remains of his home, 32-year-old Nikesh Gawali carefully broke open a half-melted plastic box with a screwdriver. His hands shook slightly, not out of fear, but out of hope. “I’m trying to find my daughter Aarti’s gold earrings,” he said quietly, still focused on the box. “She’s just five. I got them made recently after months of labour work.” The plastic box, warped and blackened by heat, was one of the few things left from his two-room house on the outskirts of Dhamangaon village . All around him lay ash, broken tin sheets and charred wooden beams. The walls had cracked under the heat and the front room’s tin roof had caved in completely. Sakkardara police bust gang stealing silences of cars

Sakkarada police busted a two-member gang involved in stealing silencers of expensive cars in the city. The police have recovered 11 car silencers worth Rs 5.50 lakh from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Sheikh Nisar Sheikh Qadir (31) and Sheikh Iqbal Sheikh Zaheer Qureshi (28), both residents of Sakkardara area.
A police official informed that thefts of car silencers were reported in Sakkardara area in recent days. A silencer of an EcoSport SUV of Hemant Kapase (45), a resident of Sakkardara, was stolen on March 3. He had lodged a complaint with the police. The Police procured CCTV footage from the area in which two youths were seen moving suspiciously on the streets. Acting on a tip-off, Sakkarada police arrested Sheikh Nisar and Sheikh Iqbal. The accused have committed eight such thefts in city limits.
Under the guidance of DCP (Zone IV) Dr. Akshay Shinde, the arrest was made by Sr PI Satyawan Mane, API Sagar Awhad, Deepak Tarhekar, Mithun Naik, Sandeep Borsare, Nitin Raut, Hemant Uike, Nilesh Shendare, Yogesh Naik and others.
