A youth was killed by two drunkards and set the body ablaze after pouring it with fuel at Ridhora village in Katol police station area.
The police have arrested Akshay Ramdas Ghicheria (31) and Mangesh Eknath Jichkar (32), both residents of Katol, for killing Angad alias Bittu Ashokrao Kadukar (28), a resident of Ridhora village.
According to police, Kadukar had recently purchased a jeep. Since then, he was use to roam in the four-wheeler in nearby areas. On Thursday night, Kadukar was consuming liquor with Ghicheria and Jichkar near a Jhunka Bhakar Kendra. A quarrel broke out between the three over some issue which later turned into ugly fight. The accused took Kadukar to Parbat Savali village where they killed him by stabbing with a sharp-weapon. Later, the accused set the body ablaze after pouring it with fuel and tyres. The incident came to fore on Friday morning, when passersby noticed the body. Staff of Katol police station led by API Rahul Bondre rushed to the spot and inspected the crime scene. The accused were arrested by the police and booked under Sections 302, 201 and 34 of Indian Penal Code. Kadukar was working peon with a bank.
By Dheeraj Fartode Maharashtra's Director General of Police (DGP) Pravin Dixit has rejected the report into the spat between Collector and Superintendent of Police in Bhandara, that had stirred hornet’s nest among the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre in State. Principal Secretary (Revenue) Manu Kumar Srivastava was appointed by State Government to probe the matter and he had submitted the report to Government and made certain recommendations. One of the recommendation which Srivastava made was to delegated powers of writing annual confidential records (ACRs) of SP's to District Collector. This particular recommendation had the IPS cadre seething with anger as they claimed it an unwarranted intrusion on their powers.
