A Principal and a Senior Clerk of Pragatik High School, Koradi, caught red-handed by Anti-Corruption Bureau Nagpur on Monday while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,500/- from a retired teacher to sanction his pension proposal.
Principal Anil Sagne (57) and Clerk Prashant Kuralkar (52) are cooling their heels behind the bars and they would be produced in the court on Tuesday by the ACB.
An ACB official informed that the complainant retired from the school as assistant teacher on August 31, 2020. As per the rules, the school administration have to send the pension proposal of retiring teacher to Education Officer (High School) six months prior to his date of retirement. However, the accused hold the pension proposal in the office. When the teacher approached Principal Sagne, he allegedly told him to meet the clerk. During the meeting, the clerk asked the teacher to fill the forms and submit it to Treasury Office. When the teacher requested Principal Sagne and Clerk Kuralkar for No Objection Certificate (NOC), the duo allegedly demanded bribe of Rs 20,500/- for maintenance of the school. The teacher then approached the ACB Nagpur office and lodged a complaint.
The ACB officials verified the demanded and laid a trap. The accused were caught red-handed on Monday by the ACB officials while accepting the bribe at the school office. An offence under provisions of Maharashtra Prevention of Corruption Act was registered at Koradi police station.
Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (SP) Rashmi Nandedkar, Addl SP Milind Totre, the arrest was made by Police Inspector Sarang Mirashi and staff including Dinesh Shiwale, Gajanan Gadge, Mangesh Kalambe, Saroj Budhe, Vinod and others.
