The Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Nagpur Rural Police arrested a man for being involved in preparing fake driving licences on Tuesday. The man was working from Mauda area of Nagpur district.
The accused was identified as Nawab Jamir Baig (50), a resident of Om Sai Nagar, Mauda.According to police, Baig owns Nawab photo studio. He was running a parallel RTO office in the studio. He used to issue bogus licenses from this studio. Superintendent of Police (SP) Rakesh Ola got the information about him. SP Ola instructed the LCB to raid the studio.
LCB’s in-charge Police Inspector Anil Jittawar, PSIs Narendra Gaurkhede, Sachin Matte, ASI Laxmi Prasad Dubey and staff including Vinod Kale, Shailesh Yadav, Satyashil Kothare, Arvind Bhagat, Pranay Banafar, Virendra Narad, Sahebrao Bahale and RTO vehicle assistant Amit Karad raided the studio on Tuesday and arrested Baig. A total of nine bogus vehicle licenses, printers, computers and other materials were seized from him. An offence under Sections 465, 468, 471 and 472 of Indian Penal Code was registered against him.
Driving license in just 15 minutes
A police official informed that Baig was issuing driving licenses to customers within 15 minutes by using high-tech printers. He was charging Rs 1,000 to 2,000 for the license, the official said.
