An accused in Remdesivir black-marketing case, who had escaped from police custody on Tuesday, was arrested by Pachpaoli police on Saturday.
Ubed Raza Ekram Ul Haq (31), a resident of Vinoba Bhave Nagar, was arrested from Uppalwadi area, police said.
Ubed Raza and Ahmed Hussain Zulfiqar Hussain were arrested from Apollo Medical Stores near Pachpaoli Gurudwara by PSI Manish Godbole when they were illegally selling Remdesivir vials for Rs 25,000 each on May 2. Cops produced them before the court and obtained remand for their custodial interrogation for three days. On Tuesday evening, accused Ubed Raza had asked policemen to the toilet for washing hands as he wanted to have meals to break his daily Ramadan fast. He told them that they break their fast at the time of the call for evening prayers. Cops took him out from the lock up and got busy in initiating action against some persons involved in selling scented tobacco. There was a rush at the police station. Ubed Raza sat in the police station premises. He distracted the attention of the policemen and escaped from the police station. During absconding period, he was hiding in Mominpura and Railway station area.
