Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. PSI and Constable netted red-handed by ACB with bribe of Rs 5,000

A Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) and his writer, attached to Kuhi police station, were caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000/- on Monday.
The arrested accused include PSI Bharat Ramesh Thite (30) and Constable Amit Shankar Pawar (28). An ACB official informed that the complainant runs a Dhaba on Umred Road and is a resident of Chitnis Nagar of Tajbag. PSI Thite was in-charge of Panchgaon beat of the police station. On May 12, Diesel was being stolen from the tipper of DP Jain Construction Company in Pachgaon area. The manager of the company had complained to Kuhi police against tipper driver Deepak Ingale, a resident of Sai Nagar, Umred Road. The police had registered a case of theft against the driver. The investigation of the case was handed over to PSI Thete who arrested Deepak.
In the one-day police custody, Deepak told the police that he had sold the diesel to the Dhaba owner. He was arrested under Section 411 of IPC for purchasing stolen goods, but he was not taken into police custody and got bail from the court.PSI Thite allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000/- to the Dhaba owner to settle the case. The owner approached ACB and lodged a complaint. After verifying the demand, the ACB officials laid a trap. The Dhaba owner went to the Pachgaon police post and gave Rs 5,000/- as first installment of bribe. Constable Amit accepted the bribe. The ACB team immediately came into action and nabbed him red-handed. He was arrested with PSI Thite and a case was registered against them under the provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act at Kuhi police station.
Under the guidance of SP Rashmi Nandedkar and Additional SP Milind Totre, Woman Police Inspector Sanjivani Thorat, PI Vinod Aade, Constable Ravikant Dahat, Sushil Yadav, Amol Menaghare, Pankaj Avchat, Rekha Yadav, Pramod Pimplekar and Priya Naware made the arrest.

Longest cable-stayed bridge to boost tourism at Ambhora

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. The bridge would be open for traffic in December this year providing a major boost to tourism at Shree Chaitanyeshwar Mahadev temple at Ambhora.
