A meat shop owner was murdered by his distant relative and his three accomplices in Patankar Chowk following an altercation over a shop of the accused on Sunday.
The police have arrested Kunal Bawne (30), a resident of Patankar Chowk, Raju Marotrao, a resident of Pachpaoli; Vickey Bawne and Balraj Katre for killing Jagdish Madne (47), a resident of Patankar Chowk.
A police official said that Bawne is the distant relative of Madne and both lives near Patankar Chowk. Madne runs a meat shop near Patankar chowk. On Sunday morning, Kunal Bawne also set up his shop around 30 feets away from Madne’s shop. Madne got irked over Bawne’s shop and asked him to set up the shop in the market and not on the road.
The shops were closed at 11 am. Later, Bawne came to Patankar Chowk with the three accused and questioned Madne for not allowing him to set up his own shop. A brawl broke out between Madne and the accused. Meanwhile, one of the accused whisked out a sharp-weapon and stabbed Madne in the back.
Madne collapsed on the ground in the pool of blood. Staff of Kapil Nagar police station rushed to the spot and admitted profusely bleeding Madne to Mayo hospital where he breathed his last in the evening.
DCP (Zone V) Neelotpal visited the spot and inspected the crime scene. DCP Neelotpal informed ‘The Hitavada’ that there is only a single wound on the back of Madne. He might have died due to severe blood loss, he said.
Three accused were arrested from Patankar Chowk area while Marotrao was arrested from Pachpaoli area who is a history-sheeter. Initially registering a case of attempt to murder, the police have increased a section of murder in the case.
