A married woman, living with parents, committed suicide by hanging herself in Kotwali area. The deceased was identified as Riya alias Pournima Sumeet Awthankar (34), a resident of Chitnis Park, near Bhart Vyam Shala.
According to police, Riya studied MCA and married to Sumit in 2016. Sumit is working as engineer with a private company in Pune. She returned to maternal home with her son after family feud in November last year. Later, her husband and father-in-law were infected with novel coronavirus and admitted to hospital as their condition deteriorated. Riya had visited their house in Pune but Riya’s husband and his family members were unable to discuss the issue due to their bad health. After having dinner on Monday night, Riya told her parents that she was going to sleep on the first floor of the house as she was not feeling well. She hanged herself from a ceiling fan with a dupatta and ended her life.
The incident came to fore on Tuesday at 10 am. After spotting the dangling body of Riya, the shocked parents informed the police. Kotwali police led by WPSI Yogita Tarade rushed to the spot and inspected the crime scene. The police have recovered a suicide note in which Riya has not accused anyone for her extreme step. Addressing her son in the letter, she asked him to take care of himself and one day he will become a big man. “I am failed to do anything in life,” she asserted in the letter said WPSI Tarade quoting the suicide note. A case of accidental death was registered by Kotwali police. Further investigation is on.
Woman ask hubby to bring 'Kharra' and ends life
A 28-year-old married woman asked her husband to bring a ‘Kharra’ and committed suicide after he went out from the house. Barkha Ravi Bisen (28) was living on the first floor with her husband while her brother-in-law and mother-in-law were living on the ground floor at their one-storey house in Takia area of Dhantoli. She was working as a maidservant while her husband was working in a shop. The couple has a two-year-old son. On Tuesday morning, she asked her husband to bring a ‘kharra’. When he went out, she hanged herself from a ceiling angle with a bedsheet and ended her life. A case of accidental death was registered by Dhantoli police. Further investigation is on.
