A Godman who claimed to cure novel coronavirus infection of positive patients was arrested under anti-superstition law by MIDC police on Friday. The Godman also claimed to trigger ‘rain’ of money, said Sr Police Inspector Yuvraj Hande.
The accused was identified as Shubham Tayde (22), a resident of Lane No. 20, Ekatmata Nagar, Nagpur.
A woman told Harish Deshmukh, General Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Andhashraddha Nirmulan Samiti about the Godman. The Godman claimed that he can cure Covid-19 infection of positive patients, the woman told Deshmukh. He then approached the MIDC police and narrated the incident.
The team of police station with volunteers of the Samiti reached at the house of youth on Thursday at around 9 pm. A large number of locals were found gathered at the house Tayde and he was engaged in frantic dancing. The followers were also not maintaining social distancing, PI Hande said.
After spotting the policemen, the youth stopped his dancing. The police took him to the police station and registered an offence under Sections 4 and 5 of he Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013 and Section 188 of Indian Pena Code.
