A 32-year-old man was killed after his bike skidded on the Chikhali flyover and he fell off from the bridge in Shanti Nagar area on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Rajkumar, a native of Karnataka. He was living in a rented accommodation in Koradi and working in a company. The accident occurred around 9 pm when he was heading towards Koradi on a motorcycle with a pillion rider who also works with him in the company. When the two were passing through the flyover, the bike skidded due to sudden rain. After hitting the railing of the bridge, Rajkumar lost his balance and fell off the bridge. A large number of onlookers gathered to the spot and informed the police.
The pillion rider sped away from the spot after spotting onlookers. He later returned to the spot and narrated the incident to the police. Rajkumar was wearing a helmet but he sustained grievous injuries in the mishap. It appears that he lost balance after hitting the divider, a senior police officer said. The police were also investigating whether his bike was hit by any vehicle. A case of accidental death was registered by Shanti Nagar police. The police are trying to contact his parents. Further investigation is on.
By Dheeraj Fartode Maharashtra's Director General of Police (DGP) Pravin Dixit has rejected the report into the spat between Collector and Superintendent of Police in Bhandara, that had stirred hornet’s nest among the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre in State. Principal Secretary (Revenue) Manu Kumar Srivastava was appointed by State Government to probe the matter and he had submitted the report to Government and made certain recommendations. One of the recommendation which Srivastava made was to delegated powers of writing annual confidential records (ACRs) of SP's to District Collector. This particular recommendation had the IPS cadre seething with anger as they claimed it an unwarranted intrusion on their powers.
