A Deputy Executive Engineer (Deputy EE) of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) was caught red-handed by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Nagpur on Tuesday while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000/-. The official demanded the bribe to accept a completion report of High Tension (HT) Line work to the contractor, ACB officials said.
Deputy EE Gajanan Baliram Dabre (54) was posted at Khapa sub-station of MSEDCL in Saoner tehsil. Dabre will be produced in the court on Wednesday by ACB. An ACB official informed that the contractor had shifted three HT Lines from residential area. He approached Dabre and submitted a completion report. To accept the report, Dabre demanded Rs 30,00/- bribe to him. The contractor then approached ACB Nagpur and lodged a complaint. The ACB officials verified the demand and laid a trap. Dabre was arrested red-handed by ACB officials on Tuesday while accepting the bribe in his office.
An offence under provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act was registered at Khapa police station against Dabre. Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (SP) Rashmi Nandedkar, Addl SP Milind Totre, the arrest was made by DySP Sandip Jagtap and staff including Pravin Padole, Laxman Parteti, Amol Menghere, Dipali Bhagat, Pramod Pimpalkar and others.
