Shocker : Push to reopen Dabo Club after Christmas Night double murder

Dabo club Nagpur Efforts to reopen the controversial Dabo Club, which was shut down for 45 days following the murder of two young men, have triggered strong anger and fear among the families of the victims. The incident took place in the early hours of December 26 last year during a Christmas party at Dabo Club. Pranav Ranavare (27) was allegedly killed after a minor dispute. His friend, Gaurav Karda (34), was badly injured in the same incident and later died during treatment.  The Sonegaon police arrested six accused - Soumya Deshmukh, Mehul alias Monu Rahate, Rajiv Chawla, Abhay Jhamtani, Gappu Sharma and Tushar Nankani. All the accused are currently lodged in jail. The club is owned by Directors Devyani Vijay Wadettiwar, Karan Vikram Thakkar and Mohd Hamza Rayeen. Police crack one-year-old theft case, recovers gold worth Rs 21 lakh

With arrest of prime accused and recovery of stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 21 lakh, Bajaj Nagar police on Tuesday claimed to have solved a burglary case.
 A police official said that house of Prof. Yogesh Shende (37), a resident of Railway Colony, Rana Pratap Nagar was burgled in August last year when Shende along with family members had gone to relative’s place. The intruders had stolen gold ornaments weighing 455 grams and Rs 35,000/- in cash, the police said.
After registering an offence, the police started investigation and arrested Amol Mahadeo Raut (32), a resident of Butibori. But only cash of Rs 35,000/- was recovered from him. During interrogation, Raut told the police that his accomplices in the crime Shrikant Jeevan Nikhade (29), resident of Titur, Kuhi, had kept the jewellry with him.
When the police failed to arrest Nikhade, they declared him absconding. He was evading arrest for past one year. Acting on a tip-off that Nikhade is working as driver in Lakhandur town of Bhandara district, the police visited the place. Before the police could reach him, Nikhade managed to escape from the town.
During the absconding period, Nikhade was continuously changing his mobile numbers so that the police could not trace his location.
During their visit at Lakhandur, the police had activated some informers and asked them to inform the police whenever they received call from Nikhade. On Sunday, Nikhade made a phone call to an informer who promptly alerted the police. The cops immediately swung into action and arrested Nikhade from a Dhaba near Saoner where he was working as a labour.

At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State.
