Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Woman hires contract killers for Rs 50,000 to murder husband

A 37-year-old woman was booked by Kelwad police for hiring contract killers to murder her husband. The police are wondering over the theory of contract killing as the woman hired the killers with a contract of Rs 50,000/- but gave just Rs 1,500/- as advance. The killers also accepted the contract with the promise of remaining amount would be paid after some time. A police official said that Devka alias Kavita Jaideep Lokhande (37), a resident of Saoner and Chandan Natthuji Diyewar (28), a resident of Saoner were arrested for killing Jaideep Sahebrao Lokhande (39), a resident of Saoner. Contract killer Sunil Malwiya (26), a resident of Chhindawara, Madhya Pradesh, is absconding after committing the crime, police said. Body of Jaideep was found with throat slit on Narsala-Kelwad road on Saturday morning. A case under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code was registered by Kelwad police. During investigation, the police questioned Devka and she told the police that her husband left the home on Friday night. Later, the police checked Call Detail Record (CDR) of Jaideep’s phone in which the police noticed that last phone call was made by Chandan to Jaideep. During interrogation, Jaideep confessed for committing the murder and revealed names of Devka and Sunil. Following the confession, Devka was arrested by the police. A police officer said that Jaideep was jobless and used to drink alcohol heavily. In a heavily drunk state, he had a habit of physically and mentally torturing his wife. Fed up of regular quarrels, Devka shared her problem with neighbourer Chandan Diyewar and asked him to find a contract killer to kill her husband. Chandan, who is working with a private company in Wadi area, met Sunil and told him about the contract. Chandan and Sunil then met Devka and accepted the contract for Rs 50,000/-. Devka paid them Rs 1,500 as advance. On Friday night, the two invited Jaidpeep for a birthday party on a dhaba where they heavily drunk. While returning to home, the duo killed Jaideep by slitting his throat with sharp-weapon. The killers met the woman after committing the murder and took Rs 500/- from her before leaving the village. Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (SP) Rakesh Ola, DySP (Home) Sanjay Purandare, the arrest was made by Police Inspector (LCB) Anil Jittawar, API Wairagade, PSI Gaurkhede, and staff including Baba Keche, Chandrashekhar Gadekar, Vinod Kale, Amol Kuthe, Rohan, PSI Siekh and API Suresh Mattami of Kelwad police station.

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
