DCP spits and assaults accused in custody

By Dheeraj Fartode Shocking allegations of misconduct have emerged against a police officer in Nagpur City Police. The officer is accused of abusive and degrading behaviour, particularly targeting accused in Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Sources claim that the senior officer arrives at the police station and calls the accused into a separate room, where the officer not only hurls abuse at the accused but also spits at their face. Later, the officer allegedly kicks the accused in the private parts. In some incidents, when a couple approached a police station in Nagpur to file a complaint following a domestic dispute, the police sent a proposal for preventive action to the officer. However, instead of handling the matter professionally, the officer allegedly made the man sit down, then kicked him in the private parts and leave him in pain and humiliation. Number of road accidents dips in State

THE road safety measures taken by Maharashtra Highway Police (MHP) are bearing fruits as the number of road accidents and fatalities is decreasing in the State. The State has recorded a drop of 8.47 per cent in all road accidents while road fatalities decreased by 3.56 per cent in year 2019. As per the statistics of road accidents from year 2016 to 2019, the State had recorded maximum 39,878 road accidents in year 2016. The number dropped to 36,056 in year 2017, to 35,717 in year 2018 and to 32,925 in year 2019. In effect, road accidents came down in Maharashtra by 17.43 per cent in last four years. Further analysis of the data showed that ‘without injury accidents’ played major role in bringing down graph of ‘overall accidents’ in the State. A total of 6,271 ‘without injury accidents’ were recorded in Maharashtra in year 2016 and the figure reduced to 3,568 with record drop of 43.10 per cent in year 2019. Woman hires contract killers for Rs 50,000 to murder husband

A 37-year-old woman was booked by Kelwad police for hiring contract killers to murder her husband. The police are wondering over the theory of contract killing as the woman hired the killers with a contract of Rs 50,000/- but gave just Rs 1,500/- as advance. The killers also accepted the contract with the promise of remaining amount would be paid after some time. A police official said that Devka alias Kavita Jaideep Lokhande (37), a resident of Saoner and Chandan Natthuji Diyewar (28), a resident of Saoner were arrested for killing Jaideep Sahebrao Lokhande (39), a resident of Saoner. Contract killer Sunil Malwiya (26), a resident of Chhindawara, Madhya Pradesh, is absconding after committing the crime, police said. Body of Jaideep was found with throat slit on Narsala-Kelwad road on Saturday morning. A case under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code was registered by Kelwad police.
