Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Youth killed by girl’s family over affiar

A 22-year-old veterinary student was murdered allegedly by the family of his girlfriend in Parseoni tehsil and dumped the body in jungle. The woman’s father and uncle have been arrested.
The deceased has been identified as Ashish Raghunath Kangali (22), a resident of Bachhera village of Parseoni tehsil while the accused involved in the murder are - Ramdas Mayaram Parteti (50) and Dilip Mayaram Parteti (45), both residents of Bachhera village.
The youth was pursuing diploma in veterinary medicine. He was in a relationship with a woman, whose husband was living in Nagpur while she was living with parents at Bachhera village. Her father was upset with the relationship and he reportedly told the youth to do not contact the girl. However, the youth and the woman had continued their relationship and were meeting everyday in the farm of the woman which just behind her house.
On October 31 at 6 pm, the youth had signaled the woman to come at the farm. But the father noticed him and he did not allowed her to went out from the house. As the woman had not came, the youth walked towards her home. After seeing Ashish, Ramdas abused and tried to caught him. The youth ran towards farms and fell after he entangled in the fencing of farm constructed for wild animals. Ramdas jumped over the youth and killed him by tying rope around his neck.
Soon after, Ramdas and Dilip took the body to jungle and hide in bushes. When Ashish did not return home, the family members launched searched for him and lodge a missing complaint with police.
On Friday morning, the police picked Ramdas for questioning. During interrogation he spilled the beans and confess for committing crime. He took the police to the spot in the jungle. The body was found decomposed and some were eaten by the wild animals. An offence under Section 302, 201 and 34 of Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused persons.
Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (SP) Rakesh Ola, the arrest was made by Police Inspector Vilas Chavan, API Nilesh Gahane, PSIs Sandipan Ubade, Dhnyanoba Palnate and staff including Mudassar Jamal, Prafulla Jagande, Sandip Kadu, Umesh Thakre, Maniram Neware and others.

DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
