Dabo club Nagpur Efforts to reopen the controversial Dabo Club, which was shut down for 45 days following the murder of two young men, have triggered strong anger and fear among the families of the victims. The incident took place in the early hours of December 26 last year during a Christmas party at Dabo Club. Pranav Ranavare (27) was allegedly killed after a minor dispute. His friend, Gaurav Karda (34), was badly injured in the same incident and later died during treatment. The Sonegaon police arrested six accused - Soumya Deshmukh, Mehul alias Monu Rahate, Rajiv Chawla, Abhay Jhamtani, Gappu Sharma and Tushar Nankani. All the accused are currently lodged in jail. The club is owned by Directors Devyani Vijay Wadettiwar, Karan Vikram Thakkar and Mohd Hamza Rayeen. A constable of Prison Department was attacked by a goon at Central Jail on Saturday. The constable was seriously injured in the attack and admitted to the hospital and his condition is reportedly critical.
According to police, accused Ashwajeet Pradip Tagde (25), a resident of Kausalya Nagar, Chimni Chowk, is history-sheeter goon of Ajni area. He is accused several body offences.
On Saturday evening, Tagde came at the jail to meet a prisoner. As he was talking on a phone, constable Rajesh Mahadeo Doifode (43) asked him to do not use telephone in the premises. This irked Tagde and he picked a quarrel with Doifode. Tagde then wrapped a stone in Dupatta and hit it on the head of Doifode. As the constable collapsed on the ground, the accused fled the spot.
Profusely bleeding Doifode was admitted at hospital and his condition is reportedly critical. Police Inspector Vijay Akot of Dhantoli police station informed that searches were launched to arrest the accused. An offence under Sections 324, 353, 186, 504 of Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused.
HR Manager of Spentex company held captive by workers
Workers of Spentex Industries Limited held captive HR Manager of the compnay over salary dues. The company is situated in Butibori MIDC area and the workers are not getting their salaries for last four months. The farmers took the manger to a farm house for salary.
A police official said, “District Collector will be holding a meeting with the workers over their dues.” An offence was registered against the company for allegedly deducting Rs 3.28 crore from salaries of more than 500 employees towards Employees Provident Fund (EPF), but not depositing the money with the EPF Organisation.
