Five days police custody to Ambekar

Date - 13-10-19
Gangster Santosh Ambekar arrested on the charges of fraud of Rs five crore and extortion on Saturday was produced in the court on Sunday, following which he was remanded to five-days police custody.
Ambekar was produced in the court in afternoon hours. As the police jeep developed snag near Akashwani square, he was taken to the court on foot. A video clip of police producing him in the court went viral in social media on Sunday.
The police told the court that they need Ambekar’s custody for arrest of remaining accused involved in the crime and recovery of the cash. After hearing plea of the police, the court remanded him to five-days police custody.
Investigation Officer (IO) of the case Police Inspector (PI) Santosh Khandekar informed that accused Bhaiyyaji Ramesh Patil, Rajput alias Salim, Balaji Angadia would be arrested soon. “We have sent special teams for arrest of the accused,” he said.
The complaint was lodged by Jigar Pareshbhai Patel, a resident of Kapadvanj, District - Kheda, Gujarat with Sitabuldi police on Saturday accusing Ambekar and his accomplices for duping him of Rs five crore and demanding extortion of Rs one crore.
Patel is deals in oil and his business spread in Gujarat state. He was searching for a commercial complex in Mumbai to start business in Maharashtra. Ramesh Patil had shown him a commercial complex at Mumbai on July 5, 2018 told him that Ambekar is owner of the property.
Patel along with Anil Kadam and Vinod Pawar met Ambekar at his home where they checked property documents in the name of Ambekar. The documents were forged by Ambekar. Patel fixed the deal with Ambekar for Rs 14 crore this week, said police. Ambekar demanded Rs five crore immediately but Patel was not ready. Then, Ambekar asked him to keep the money ready with Angadia (illegal courier). Patel agreed for the deal and given the money to Angadia in Mumbai. The Angadia was instructed by Patel to deliver the money to Ramesh Patil only after receiving his (Patel) phone call. In a recent meeting, Ambekar asked Patel for his mobile phone stating network issues in his phone. Without knowledge of Patel, Ambedkar dialed phone number of the Angadia from Patel’s phone and asked him to deliver the money to Patil. Assuming Patel instructed to deliver the money, the Angadia delivered the money to Patil.
Patel realised the fraud after two-days when the Angadia called him for commission. He then approached Ambekar and asked to return the money. Instead of returning money, Ambekar issued him death threats and demanded Rs one crore extortion. Patel then returned to a hotel in Ramdaspeth and approached Sitabuldi police. The police have registered the case under Section 420, 467, 468, 471, 384, 386, 506 (b) and 34 of Indian Penal Code.

IGP Prasanna : The man who stopped Obama’s convoy

IGP Mallikarjuna Prasanna By Dheeraj Fartode  Published on Feb/17/2019 NOT many are aware of an episode during the then US President Barack Obama’s visit to India in 2010. The world’s most powerful man was made to wait for 11 minutes in his car while an Indian cop took on American officials for their unwarranted interference in the US President’s security. KM Mallikarjuna Prasanna, Special Inspector General of Police of Nagpur Range, still continues to work with the same pride, wearing his patriotism on the sleeve. “Had they (Americans) deployed their personnel for area security, then the message would have been Indians are unable to protect VIPs in their nation,” recounted Prasanna on the episode that is one of the highlights of his distinguished career of a skillful investigator. The story of the IPS officer of 2000 batch is worth a film. In fact, a movie (Nagarjun-starrer ‘Officer’) has already been made by Ram Gopal Verma last year. His real life script als...

Just around a decade ago the river bank housing Ambhora used to see a flux of tourists from all over the State. However, the banks were submerged in water after the construction of Gosikhurd dam which led to rise in water levels. Since then, tourist flow at Ambhora has also declined. However, now with the construction of the new bridge tourists will get a chance see the scenic backwaters across the river bed which is...
