The state police have started using Crime-OS, a powerful Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool developed under the MARVEL project (Maharashtra Research and Vigilance for Enhanced Law Enforcement). This tool, built in partnership with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur, works like the co-pilot feature in Microsoft Office - but to solve crimes. It helps police save valuable time and reduces the heavy workload of investigations. An Auto-rickshaw driver was killed in road accident while trying to avoid a stray dog in Yashodhara Nagar area. Just then when they neared the petrol pump, a stray came in the middle of the road.
A 72-year-old autorickshaw driver died on Monday from injuries sustained in a road accident that took place while he trying to avoid running over a stray dog in Yashoda Nagar area of Maharashtra's Nagpur, police said. According to police, the Auto-rickshaw (MH-49/AR-4079) driver - Bhagwandas Govardhansingh Verma (72) - was heading towards Mohd Ali Petrol Pump from Naglok after attending a wedding when the accident occurred on Saturday at 8.30 pm. The accident happened on Saturday night when driver Bhagwandas Verma was heading towards a petrol pump, an official said. "A dog came in his way and he tried to swerve and the vehicle overturned in the process. He sustained serious injuries to his head. He died in hospital on Monday," an official said.
In another case, an unidentified vehicle knocked a pedestrian dead in Koradi area on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Ramnaresh Laxman Choudhary (75), a resident of Om Nagar. According to police, Ramnaresh was walking on the road near Om Sai Nagar gate at 7.30 pm. An unidentified vehicle came from another side and hit Ramnaresh. He sustained grievous injuries in the mishap. Onlookers rushed profusely bleeding Choudhary to hospital where he breathed his last. Koradi police have registered the case under Sections 279 and 304 (a) of Indian Penal Code.
