Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. Ambekar hospitalised after collapsed in police lock up

Gangster Santosh Ambekar was hospitalised on late Tuesday night after he collapsed in the police lock up. He complained of dizziness, said police.  
He is being treated at Intensive Carte Unit (ICU) at Ward No. 24 of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). A large number of police personnel have been deployed near the ward. 
Ambekar told the police that he is patient of Blood Pressure and Sugar. On Tuesday night, he collapsed in the lock up after which the police rushed him to the hospital. 
An offence under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 384, 386, 506 (b) and 34 of Indian Penal Code was registered against Ambekar and five others on Saturday for duping a businessman of Rs five crore in a property deal and also issuing threats to him for extortion of Rs one crore. 
Ambekar’s nephew Nilesh Dhnyaneshwar Kedar (31),a  resident of Darodkar Chowk was also nabbed by the police. The complaint was lodged against Ambkar by Jigar Pareshbhai Patel, a resident of Kapadvanj, District - Kheda, Gujarat with Sitabuldi police on Saturday accusing Ambekar and his accomplices for duping him of Rs five crore and demanding extortion of Rs one crore.

Truck cleaner killed after truck moved backwards 

A truck cleaner met with a tragic end when the truck moved in backwards on a slope, crushing the cleaner to death. The incident occurred in Hingna police station area and the police have booked the truck driver on the charges causing death by negligence. 
The truck cleaner Chandrabhan Shivram Hedaoo (52), a resident of Juni Mangalwari, Nagpur was cleaner of the truck (MH-40/Y-3499). The truck developed snag when it was passing through Banwadi village on Monday 8 am. Hedaoo get off the truck and started checking for the fault at rear wheels. However, the driver failed to control the vehicle on the slope and it moved in backwards. Hedaoo was crushed under rear wheels. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to the injuries. 
Hingna police have registered a case under Section 304 (a) of Indian Penal Code against the truck driver. Further investigation is on. 

Man killed after bike hit electric pole 

A 44-year-old man died on Wednesday from injuries sustained in a road accident that took place on Friday in Yashodhara Nagar police station area. 
The deceased has been identified as Dindayal alias Rajesh Ramadas Lokhande (44), a resident of Yashodhara Nagar chowk. 
According to police, the accident occurred at 10.30 am when Lokhande was moving towards Yashodhara Nagar chowk on his bike. He lost control over the bike near a turning and hits a roadside electric pole. He was seriously injured in the accident. During treatment at hospital, Lokhanded succumbed to his injuries. Yashodhara Nagar police have registered the case under Section 304 (a) of IPC.

Longest cable-stayed bridge to boost tourism at Ambhora

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
