Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. Ten RTO officials and touts booked in license scam

Sitabuldi police have booked 10 officials of Regional Transport office (RTO) along with seven touts in connection with learning license scam. 
According to police, RTO had set up an e-system to issue licenses. User id and password of the system was given to the touts by the RTO officials. The touts had issued hundreds of the licenses by accessing the system in connivance with the RTO officials. The touts were charging more than Rs 1,000 for each learning license and transferring a part of it to the RTO officials, informed sources.
The accused have been identified as Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspectors (AMVIs) Abhijeet Khare, Shailesh Kopulla, Vilas Tengne, Sanjay Pallewad, Sanjivani Chopde, Mangesh Rathod, Mithun Dongre; Jr Clerk Dipali Bhoyar, the then System Administrator Pradip Lohgaonkar; Ashwini Sawarkar, Rajesh Deshmukh, Ashish Bhoyar, Arun Lanjewar, Umesh Dhiwdhonde, UTL employee Amol Pantawne, private internet subscriber of Orange Infocom Pvt Ltd and owner of Orange Infocom Pvt Ltd Jeram Jerome D'souza. 
First Investigation Report (FIR) was registered on the basis of complain lodged by RTO, Nagpur. The scam came to fore in year November last year after which PI Vijay Kare of Cyber Cell of City Police had conducted an investigation into the scam. He submitted a report to State Transport Commissioner. An offence under Sections 419, 420, 465, 468, 471 of Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused. 

Crime Branch arrest absconding accused, seizes three fire-arms 

A dreaded goon involved in a dacoity reported in Latur district was arrested by Crime Branch. The cops have seized two pistols, a Desi Katta and two live cartridges from his possession.
Arrested accused has been identified as Firoz alias Haji Khan Mohd Jabir (35), a resident of Ansar Nagar, Mominpura. According to police, Firoz was involved in a dacoity reported in MIDC police station area in Latur district two years ago. He was absconding since then. He was arrested by the police from his house on Sunday. Two Pistols, a Desi Katta, and live cartridges were seized from his possession.
An offence under Sections 3, 7 (A) and 25 of Indian Arms Act and 135 of Mumbai Police Act was registered against the accused at Bajaj Nagar police station. 
After model code of conduct came into force, the Crime Branch have launched crackdown against anti-social elements across the city. Fifteen raids were conducted under Prohibition Act and 15 persons were arrested. The police have conducted three raids on Gambling dens and arrested 15 persons in this connection. 
In a special drive, the Crime Branch have checked residence of 50 externed goons and six of them were found living in the city. They were booked under Section 142 of BP Act. Similarly, three cases under Indian Arms Act were registered by the police. 
Under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police Nilesh Bharne and Deputy Commissioner of Police Gajanan Rajmane and ACP Sudhir Nandanwar the arrest was made by PI Bhimrao Khandale, PSI Rajkumar Tripathi, Mayur Chourasiya and staff including Shankar Shukla, Rajesh Tenguria, Pramodsingh Thakur, Surendra Pandey, Ravindra Gawande, Narendra Thakur, Pankaj Lande, Pravin Rode, Harshal Patmase, Sagar Thakre, Rohit Kale, Kunal Masram, Yogesh Selukar, Deviprasad Dubey and others.

Longest cable-stayed bridge to boost tourism at Ambhora

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
