Major reshuffle expected in Maharashtra Police leadership

The State Home Department in Maharashtra is gearing up for a significant overhaul of its top police leadership, including the position of Director General of Police (DGP) and Police Commissioners of Nagpur and Thane. The impending retirement of the current DGP, Rajnish Seth, on December 31 has prompted the department to commence the process of selecting his successor.A top rank official said that several prominent names have emerged as contenders for the esteemed position of State DGP. The frontrunner is Senior IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla, who currently serves as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar is also a strong candidate for the role. Other notable contenders include Thane CP Jaijeet Singh, DG ATS Sadanand Date, DG Police Housing Sandeep Bishnoi, DG Railway Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director of NIA Atulchandra Kulkarni, and DG State Security Corporation Bipin Kumar Singh, he said. Girl died after consuming poison over father’s liquor habits

A father’s liquor habits destroyed a family in Nawabpura area of city when his daughter consumed poison over a feud. The man’s condition is also critical as he too attempted suicide by consuming the same poison. 
According to police, Samiksha Suresh Dongre (21), a resident of Nandaji Nagar, Navabpura, Mahal was fed up of drinking habit of father Suresh Dongre (48). The habit used to led to quarrel in the family. 
A brawl broke out in the family when Suresh arrived home in inebriated condition on Monday night. Angry over daughter’s comments, Suresh took out a bottle full of poison and started drinking. Samiksha too became angered and snatched the bottle from Suresh and consumed poison. Both fell on the ground after consuming poison. They were rushed to the hospital where Samiksha breathed her last on Wednesday morning. The father is also battling for life, said police. Kotwali police have registered a case of accidental death.

MCOCA slapped against another gang 

CONTINUING with the use of its most dreaded weapon -- Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), City police on Wednesday booked four members of a gang under the stringent act for their involvement in murder of Subhash Mohurle in Sadar area and other criminal activities. This is the fourth gang of criminals booked under MCOCA by the cops this year.
The accused has been identified as Khushal alias Bhatti Prabhakar Rajurkar (26), Akshay alias Rajat Kamlesh Fusate (25), Akshay Ramtke and Suryakant alias Sulli Rajurkar, all residents of Rambagh, Imambada. The goons were involved in 28 offences reported in Sadar, Sitabuldi, Lakadganj, Imambada, Ajni, Sonegaon, Jaripatka, Dhantoli, Gittikhadan, Ganeshpeth police stations so far. 
The accused have been booked under MCOCA after an application to this effect was sent by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone II Vinita Sahu. Commissioner of Police Dr. B K Upadhyaya approved the application on Wednesday.
A police officer said that the accused were involved in serious offences reported across the city. The goons had created a climate of fear in the area. Hence, the action was taken against them. 
The City Police has adopted a policy to apply stringent measures under MCOCA against habitual offenders, who evade the regular laws by taking advantage of the loopholes. A total of 34 goons have been booked under MPDA and four gangs have been slapped with MCOCA. 
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sadar Division Rekha Bhawre investigating the case. PI Amol Deshmukh, API Mohan Dere, WPSI Ashwini Wankhede and staff including Arvind Gadekar, Dhiraj Panchbhave and others took part in the action. 

Man booked booked for getting enrolled in Army by submitting forged documents 

Old Kamptee police have booked a man for getting enrolled in Army by submitting forged documents. The man fled the Kamptee Cantonment after the fraud came to fore.  The accused has been identified as Manoj Dinesh Salodari (21), a resident of Bhadroli, Uttar Pradesh. According to police, the accused had enrolled in the Army by submitting forged documents. The fraud came to fore during verification of the documents. An offence under Sections 419, 420, 468, 471 and 170 of Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused. 

Four booked for duping a man of Rs 50 lakh in land deal 

Four persons of a family were booked by Jaripatka police for duping a man to the tune of Rs 50 lakh in a land fraud. The accused have been identified as Sharad Mohanrao Armarkar (60), Shalini Sharad Armarkar (53), Vinod Manohar Armarkar (48) and Manisha Vinod Armarkar (42), all residents of Plot No. 492, Garoba Maidan, Harihar Nagar. 
According to police, the accused had finalised a land deal in Rs 90 lakh with complainant Pralhad Namomal Setia (53), a resident of Plot No. 19, Bank Colony, Setia Chowk and accepted Rs 50 lakh from him. However, the accused sold the land to one Bharat Ashok Dhapodkar (27), a resident of Jaganath Budhawari. After realising the fraud, Setia approached the police and lodged a complaint. Jaripatka police have registered the case under Sections 420 and 34 of Indian Penal Code.

CONSTRUCTION work of 700-metre-long cable-stayed bridge, longest in the country, with a viewing gallery at the top at Ambhora in Kuhi tehsil is near completion. DCP Sunil Kolhe gets IPS cadre

DCP (crime) Sunil Kolhe By Dheeraj Fartode About 28 State Police Service (SPS) officers were granted  Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre on Monday. At Nagpur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Sunil Kolhe is among these officers. With their promotion, Maharashtra Government will fill-up the existing vacancies of cadre posts across the State. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, approved the promotion and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), issued the notification of 28 state police officers into IPS cadre.  Maharashtra Government had earlier empanelled the 28 officers for promotion of SPS officers into IPS and criteria was they should have served for atleast eight years as Superintendent of Police (SP) or Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
